On 12-31-2013, I bought a good backpack from this store because we planned to use it on a trip out of the country the next day. Turns out we couldn't use it. We traveled to Asia for a death in the family. The weekend after my return, I thought I'd just return it. I was told Best But has a 15-day return policy and they would not take back the brand-new unused backpack. I was also told they extended their return policy a bit for Christmas returns, but I didn't qualify for that.

A return policy of 15 days for backpacks is irrational. Irrational is exactly the word because no other retailer has such severe limitations on their customers as Best Buy. Certainly life's events take priority over the need to buy anything from this chain, again. I did not mention the purpose of our trip, but there is no indication of any flexibility at all in the young people behind the counter. I am glad we found out about this unreasonable limitation on customers by buying only a backpack.

Irrational..

AUTHOR: Robert - ()

POSTED: Tuesday, January 21, 2014

The only thing irrational here is your attitude.

You are not that special.  You seem to think that just because you have a "special" situation that return policies shouldn't apply to you.  You say that stores should take into account "life events".  Okay..so what life events should qualify for an extention of their policy?  How about if you had a business trip out of state..does that qualify?  What if you decided to take your signficant other out on a date and "forgot" to return the item..does that qualify?

You see policies are there for a reason, and there is a reason that stores are no longer flexable.  That reason is because of people exactly like you.  That's right, people who think that policies are great..until they don't get them what they want.

One final thing..their return policy is posted all over their store as well as on your receipt.  If this 15 day policy was such a problem for you, why didn't you return the backback right after you bought it?

Oh and no I do not now or ever have worked for Best Buy, and yes I do have quite a nice life.

This Person Needs to Get a Life

Where, again, did you find "retaliation" in my post? You didn't. You made that up and then used your fantacy as truth to be on the attack.

And, you immediately attack the character of a person based on the flimsiest of rationale, fantasy, and because you just don't agree.

You attack character, rather than discuss on the facts, needs, and consequences.

But, your hostile rant does provide another opportunity for me to warn folks that they had better be absolutely certain of their intent to buy from Best Buy. Not another store you might consider, irrationally limits you to a 15-day return period. 15 days is not a long time and it is likely that you don't arrange your life to meet Best Buy's policy limitations, as this hosiile person apparently does.

Real Mature....

Real mature of you to blast them because YOU are beyond the return time. When you made your purchase the reciept IN YOUR HANDS would have given you the time frame for a return. Sorry you had a death in your family but it doesnt change the return policy. It is what it is. You attempted to retun a item when it was beyond the time frame to do so. So in retaliation YOU feel its perfectly alright to post a negative review for WHAT IS YOUR FAULT!!!! It is NOT unreasonable of a time frame. YOU have not been ripped off or scammed. Its the other way around. YOU are attempting to SCAM them by posting a negative review you think you are going to embarass them into giving you your way. You need to learn to accept the fact that the world doesnt revolve around YOU. YOU missed the window to return the backpack. Guess what...you own a backpack now. Get over it. It is UNREASONABLE and IRRATIONAL of YOU to demand that they give you your way.

Like I said....REAL mature of you.You really cant fix YOUR level of stupid.....
