I originally bought some furniture from Carolina Furniture Concepts and briefly worked there selling furniture.  The companies least concern in customer service.  If you've experienced them before then you've probably talked to the voice mail quite a few times.  The management team is a joke.  They act like children.  No one within the company wants to own up to any sort of responsibility and handle customer concerns.  I was always instructed to take messages or transfer customers to voice mail boxes.  That is the worst kind of customer service.  Mr. Gupta who owns the company is in the building every day but as always we were instructed to lead customers away from him.....even when they specifically asked for him.  The entire sales process is based on lies.  Their mentality is "whatever it takes to obtain the sale, just do it."  Very poor thinking.  As employees we were treated like numbers.  Very disposable.  Ultimately it's a small company despite the constant advertising.  The owner who is hands on, NEVER once introduced himself to myself or any other new hires.  On day one while Paul Reith the sales manger was introducing me to everyone, he introduces me to Brenda whom is the office manager....I tell Brenda "hello" and introduce myself.  As soon as Paul and I walk out Paul says "she's a bitch".  I was stunned by that comment.  From that moment on I could sense that the morale within the company was extremely low.  I witnessed on numerous occasions, management belittling customers.  As I said in the beginning, customer service is the last priority of Carolina Furniture Concepts.  I've been involved with customer service and sales for over a decade, I can't stress how important customer service is. We all know this.  They mark up the furniture well over 400% in hopes of negotiating with every customer.  Their tactics are unethical.  In a nutshell, I would suggest shopping else where.  There are several small mom and pop furniture stores in the Asheville area that will focus on your wants and needs.  Trust me....you'll experience the difference.  Stay away from this sharky environment!  Good luck!

Gone but not forgotten. It's me Im back. Deception, Lies, & Slander. This is what you can expect from Carolina Furniture Concepts if you ever decide to take employment there or much less shop there. Just to get down to the point I was denied my unemployment after the owner lied to the state and falsified documents and it took me right around 5 1/2 months to get my unemployment. Knowing that he was in the wrong the entire time. Wasting the cities and states time and money. I had to go through Raleigh to get myself a lawyer paying them so I could get the money that was rightfully mine I'm not the only one that's had to do that. So over the years how much money has he really wasted of the states and the city's  knowing what he's doing was wrong trying to intimidate employees so that they don't go for what's rightfully theirs.  Make sure you do your homework first whether you decide to buy or work there. For the love of Cows and all that is holy please think twice before shopping or getting a job there.

According to the first amendment of the US constitution which is freedom of speech, I stand by every word that I have said. I have been threatened by my former employers lawyers that this is slander and defamation....My rebuttal to that is that I stand for the truth and only the truth so help me GOD. Their option is to stand behind lawyers. Carolina Furniture Concepts isn't a nice place to work or shop.

Although I have been threatened by my former employers lawyers, I also have been informed by counsel, that as long as what I say is the truth and nothing but the truth,that shalt not be considered slander nor defamation. As my right as an American citizen I am Entitled to the First Amendment " freedom of speech". As for my comments concerning Carolina Furniture Concepts they are 100% accurate. As I am no longer there I feel that I should not have to hide, have to lie, but to tell the truth only and that is what I've done. Carolina Furniture Concepts is not a nice place to work or shop! Also according to my counsel I was informed that they have the right to file a rebuttal and that they should have......but they chose not to, WHY? Because they know that what I have said is the truth. They decide to hide behind lawyers, not the truth.

The prices are marked up 300-400%!!! So if you buy there make sure you don't take even the 3rd or 4th offer they offer you. They also make you make up a sick day even though its commission only. They think its wrong for the sales force to do drugs but we learn from our managers. They use more drugs than the employees, drink during the day and if they run out they go to ABC to get more. Practice what you preach!!! I'm just saying. We where trained to lie to customers. If your sales person is talking there lying. If your told that there's only one left there's probably 20-30 DONT fall for it. The warehouse guys barely make minimal wage and don't get breaks. They are expected to work 10-12 hrs a day without a break, dogs are treated better. And a lot of former employees have responded to these adds and agreed with me.

Although the owner of Carolina Furniture Concepts is very humble to his customers. His employees are treated very different. I'm sure as a customer, you would understand if your employer treated you the way the employees at CFC are treated. That nice sales person you think your buying your furniture from is being over worked and under paid. He or she may or may not get paid on your furniture purchase as the owner writes and sells more each month than any of his employees. Think about if you are employed on a commision only basis not salary or hourly how you would feel about how Mr. G runs his business.

Employee harassment

Although Carolina Furniture Concepts is a flourishing small business in our area, with a growing clientele of loyal customers, however; what happens behind the scenes may deter you. The friendly service by the Sales staff is often a misrepresentation of the environment of this establishment. Employees are often mistreated, bullied and not compensated properly. Despite the the 60 hour work week and the loyalty that was shown by me and countless employees we were recently fired abruptly, with in a short period of time. This came as no surprise to my co workers and I, when we one by one we're fired with out probable cause, due to the constant bullying/intimidation by the owner, Sandeep Gupta (often referred to as SG or 104) in order to mask his identity or presence to disgruntled customers. His cell number is 828-582-2474. Day after day we arrived at work willing to go to any length because we felt such pressure to do well by management. It was a minefield of wrong moves where every step we made or word we said was analyzed at every and any point of the day. Even personal phone calls and emails, which were not prohibited, were still monitored. Many of the employees began to seek medical help outside of work to deal with the immense stress the job had cause. Many were prescribed anti anxiety medication in order to deal with the day to day job, which slowly began to feel like jail. After my termination, I noticed that I had not been properly compensated for my sales, because my checks following my termination appeared to be short. After investigation, it is apparent to me that the commission I was promised after my termination, for work i had done during employment, was taken out of my name, reassigned to customer service employees, that are INFACT not commissioned based employees, in order to keep from having to pay for any of my sales commission. My former coworkers and I feel betrayed, not only for the time, effort and loyalty we put into this company, but because we were denied our rightful pay. Some only weeks before the holidays, with no remorse or concern for how the employees would provide Christmas for their families. So now, as each of us fight our denied unemployment, I wish only to warn future employees of this company of these occurrences.

I had a different experience

I am a customer of Carolina Furniture concepts and had a different experience.  I did take into consideration these comments are from an ex employee and typically ex employees don't have commendable things to say.  However, I did want to share my experience.



The owner of the store approached me and offered help on my first visit.  He not only greeted me the second time I shopped the store but he called me by name.  Impressive.  I bought beautiful, contemporary furniture and a price that yes, I did negotiate.  Whats wrong with that?  We do it when we buy a house, a car, and other items, why not furniture?
