I bought a contract from continental warranty back in november. When discussing with the lady on the phone, the plan, she said it will be 2 years of payments, 100,000 miles, and 5years, etc. she told me the contract was transferrable and also, if i ever wanted to cancel the contract, i could cancel, and the there would be a pro-rated refund returned to me, based upon mileage and length of time.

So i decided to cancel my warranty because i was getting ready to sell my truck or trade it in. I call and cancel, they said i need 2 things to cancel. 1. a letter in writing saying i would like to cancel, which i sent over an e-mail, and 2. a current mileage statement, showing the most up to date mileage on my vehicle in order to issure a pro rated refund.

So i fax a mileage statement over from an oil change i had done later that day. I hear nothing from the company for about a week, so i decide to call and see whats going on. They tell me their is no refund issued, my contract doesn't state i can receive one. So i duke it out with scott the customer service supervisior and tell him i was asked to send the mileage statement, telling him his employees asked me to send it so they could issue me the refund.

Why would I be asked for a mileage statement, just to cancel a warranty??? so i asked him to listen to the tape of me when i purchased the warranty. he puts me on hold, comes back on in about 4 mintues says he listened to the tape and says their is nothing that was said when i purchased the plan being said about a pro rated refund. i asked scott how long the tape was, he said,"16 minutes". So then i ask scott how he listened to a 16 minute conversation in 4 minutes??? I told him he was obviously fast forwarding the conversation and could have easily missed the conversation that involves myself receiving a refund.

So here i am $400 later for a 6 month warranty, that has been cancelled, and i get nothing back. the total purcahse plan was $1,695 for a 5 year plan. thats around 350 a year, and i paid 400 in 6 months and i get nothing back.

Hello,

Anyone reading this please keep 2 things in mind when reading this "complaint". This client and every single client we sell had thirty days to read his contract over and make sure he was satisfied before being obligated to it.

- The only plan we sell that is not cancelable after 30 days for a pro-rated refund is the Car Guard Plan this customer chose. It is our cheapest priced program and when we sell it we very clearly explain that after 30 days it can only be transferred to a new owner, not cancelled for a pro-rated refund like other plans we sell.

- We also have a recorded verification that clearly the stated had 30 days cancellation for an unconditional money back guarantee. After that transferring was the only option available.

- The contract is very clear in explaining that after 30 days there is no cancellation for a pro-rated refund because it is a product warranty.

Any questions on how pro-rated refunds work on our normal plans or what a product warranty is please contact me.
