I am completing this complaint for my mother-in-law, Mrs. Jean Hayden who is unable to complete herself.  She is unable to do many things herself which is why last year, this company was told to never go to her home again as they got her to write them a $3000.00 check for work on a brand new air conditioning system (just put in the year prior for $8000.00).  Both my husband and I specifically told them never to return to the property that she was very forgetful and we were to approve all work done at her home.  On August 16th, they returned to her home (she gave them permission-they called her), and charged her $509.00 to clean a coil!!  She states she was never told in advance how much this “cleaning” would cost, the company says she was told and she signed for the ok to perform.

When I called the office on Tuesday August 20, 2013 ask why they even went to the home after being told never to return to the house, the women who answered the phone hung up on me after I questioned her.  I was questioning her about the numerous complaints from other seniors and was asking her if this was a “normal” practice of the company to prey on senior citizens as it was starting to look like a pattern to me.

My mother in law informed me that “the man” was working for about 2 hours.  That would amount to 250.00/hour which is an excellent wage for an unlicensed laborer (I checked, he is unlicensed).

I feel this company should be ashamed of themselves for taking advantage of seniors and I would like all seniors to beware!

I am sending a letter in writing to have this company never return or be subject to arrest.

My mother in law would like to pay for the service but not overpay.  She has certainly overpaid for a “coil cleaning”.

Total bill was 509.95 which included C & T of $34.95 , Clean coil: $ 475.00

And no tax was charged….Hmmm…I guess they are also ripping off the State of Florida and the IRS as well as all of the senior citizens.  I will be letting them know as well.

#5 UPDATE Employee

Are you kidding me?

AUTHOR: Instigator - ()

POSTED: Tuesday, October 15, 2013

I am still laughing at your rebuttal! Did you even bother to read it? I fully explained myself and what we did for your mother in law. It is obvious to me now that you certainly havew an axe to gring with Custom Climate Concepts, but instead you decided to drag my name in to this report. I am standing by what I did at your mother in laws home.

I did not make the call to your motherin laws! The company did,

I did not set the appiontment, the company did.

I performed the work and charged what the company siad I had to charge. Its in a book and thats what your mother in law agreed to pay us for.

Your mother in law signed the work order for the work to be performed.

I want to ask you a question, are you an ac tech? Do you have any official training in HAVC? Do you know what an impacted coil is and how to clean one? Do you have any idea what we have to do in order to clean one?

I think the answer is no to all of the above questions, so where do you come off saying that we ripped off your motherin law when you have absolutely no idea what you are talking about? Oh and by the way, I dont need a license to do ac tech work. I am an employee, period, the company is licensed in HAVC.

I think for what ever reason you are trying to make a mountain out of a molehile. You can tell by the way you respong that you are a miserable person with an axe to grind. (You are yelling at everyone when you use cap locks!)

Anyway, the good news is that I no longer work for Custom Climate Concepts. I have chosen to move on but wanted to clear my name of any wrong doing since you felt the need to paste my business card on here for all to see. I stand behind my work and my ethics. Have a wonderful day, I certainly hope life gets better for you and yours.

NOT AN ERRONEOUS COMPLAINT AT ALL PATRICK, SORRY

AUTHOR: DONNAH88 - ()

POSTED: Sunday, August 25, 2013

Dear Patrick and consumers:

Your response was quite eloquent…however does NOT at all respond to my complaint which was simply:

1.  Your company was informed last year NOT to go to the home or contact Jean due to a repair of $3000.00 on a system that was one year old at the time (I guess I need to go into that one now…you asked for it) that your company performed.  Did you lose that info??

2.  You blatantly overcharged for a service.  You CLEANED A COIL!!!  No new parts, no nothing.  $475.00??  REALLY???   You worked for 2 hours, you are not a physician, NOT an attorney and according to the DBPR, NOT licensed!!! Why do you think you should make that kind of money???

THUS..THE "RIP OFF REPORT"

THAT’S MY COMPLAINT.  DO NOT GO TO THAT HOUSE AGAIN, EVER.  GOT IT??

END OF STORY.

My advice to Florida residents…check the BBB.  There are other complaints.  Not just me, trust me.

ADDITIONAL QUESTION FOR CUSTOM CONCEPTS

AUTHOR: DONNAH88 - ()

POSTED: Sunday, August 25, 2013

One final question

You clearly stated in your rebuttal that Jean is NOT a PMA customer of Custom Climate
Concepts.

My question to you is, Why are you calling an 84 year old "NON CUSTOMER"?

What is your motive? Shouldn't you only be calling your customers?

Enough said.

Custom Climate Concepts The Truth

AUTHOR: Patrick - ()

POSTED: Friday, August 23, 2013

Dear Donna Jean,

I read your complaint regarding Custom Climate Concepts and your mother in law Jean H**** and I would like to respond to your complaint. I will stick to the facts and only the facts.

1) Yes your mother in law did agree to have Custom Climate Concepts come out and perform a clean and tune for $34.95 on August 16th 2013.

2) Patrick (thats me) was the AC Tech that was sent out to perform the clean and tune.

3) At  approximetally 3:00 pm I arrived at Mrs Haydens residence, introduced myself, put on a pair of shoe protectors and went inside her home and turned her thermostat down so I could perform my inspection and services.

4) When I opened up the fan cover I discovered that her coil was fully contaminated with some kind of biological growth that was impacted inside the coil restricting her air flow across the coil. I took several pictures of the coil and proceeded to get Mrs H**** and show her what I found.

5) Mrs H**** came outside and I showed her the coil. She agreed that it looked terrible and was there anything I could do for it. I said yes, I can clean the coil for you. I then took out my price book and showed Mrs H**** the cost of a coil cleaning was $545.00 in place for a non PMA customer, I also said that the price for a PMA (Preventive Maintenance Account) was $475.00. I told her that I was willing to do the job for the PMA price of $475.00

6) Mrs H**** then agreed to do the job for $475.00. I told her that I needed her to sign our company paper work to authorize the work. I wrote up the contract and Mrs H**** signed it. (As you stated in your complaint, Mrs H**** has a very forgetful memory, so maybe she forgot that she signed the contract for us to perform the work.)

7) I also noticed that some biological growth was also on her blower fan blades. We charge an additional $269.00 to pull and clean a blower fan. I took it upon myself to clean the fan blades in place at no additional cost to your mother in law. A job that took me an additional half hour to complete as I had to remove her heat strips so they would not get wet.I also took pictures of the work I did.

8) After two hours of working on Mrs H****s ac unit the job was completed, including the extra work that I did cleaning her blower fan blades that I did not charge her for. When I turned on the breaker to the unit I did not get power to the ac. I then went inside, turned off the power to the breaker box and went back outside and repaired her breaker, again, at no additional charge to her. After repairing the breaker the unit was turned back on and the job was completed.

9) After I put away all my tools I went back in to Mrs Haydens home to collect the check. Mrs H**** paid me, thanked me for doing a very thorough job, we shook hands and I told her to have a nice weekend. Case closed.

Again, sticking to just the facts, what exactly are you complaining about? The fact that I did my job? The fact that I was authorized by Mrs H**** to do the job ? (She had a choice and could have said no thank you) The fact that I did extra work for Mrs H**** and did not charge her for this extra work out of the kindness of my heart? I did not have to do any of the extras that I did, I chose to do those things becasue I am a good tech and I like to help people, Mrs H**** was very nice to me so I had no problem doing the little extras that seperate us from our competition.

I think that before you go online to file a complaint against a company and there employee's you should also get all the facts related to such a complaint before accusing someone of doing something wrong. You obviously let your emotions get in the way of clear thinking regarding this complaint. I stand behind my work, my ethics and the integrity of the company I work for.

Custom Climate Concepts and I did a good job for Mrs H****, we stand behind our work, and I also take lots of before and after pictures of my work in case of erronious complaints. I would be happy to forward these pictures to your e-mail for your approval at any time. If you would like to speak to me directly please call the office and simply ask for me, I would be happy to speak with you.

Regards,

Patrick
