Damper Doctor ripoff can't meet commitment dates or perform service, losses on shipping costs, rude communication Reading California

On or about March 9, 2006, I contacted the Damper Doctor because he advertises, on his website, that he repairs and rebuilds (among other things) engine mounts. I asked him for a quote to rebuild my mount. The Damper Doctor responded with a $200 quote (after reviewing pictures and diagrams I sent to him at his request) which I accepted. I was asked to ship my part to his shop in California from Kentucky (part shipped by me on 3/16/06 UPS RED). Shipping for the part cost $54. I was told the part would take ("at most") a week to rebuild and ship back to me. I explained repeatedly the urgent nature of having this job done on an expedited basis. I called and emailed a number of times, afterwards, asking for progress reports. Most of my communications went unanswered for days. Eventually, I was told the part would ship within 24 hours (March 28, 2006). I never received the part or a call/e-mail after that. When I confronted the Damper Doctor, he basically informed me that if I were to keep inquiring then he would send the part back to me unfinished and charge me for what he had done. I wrote back and advised him of his unprofessional behavior and reminded him that I had been lied to, repeatedly, during this process. He wrote back and told me that, in fact, he unintentionally destroyed the part while trying to rebuild it. Aside from the loss of the original part (which monetary damage is undetermined as yet, because the manufacturer discontinued the part), there are actual damages by way of the original $54 in shipping. The owner of this website is a liar, and he is apparently unskilled in the rebuilding of car parts. Therefore, there has been misrepresentation at the threshhold level on his website, and his practices moving forward were deceiptful and resulted in financial loss.
