A few days ago I filed chapter 7 bankruptsy. My lawyer said I would receive all kinds of sketchy offers in the mail. Today, among the piles of letters from auto finance companies and credit card offers, I received a letter from the "Department of Unclaimed Assets". The letter showed the last 4 of my social and stated in bold letters that this was not a solicitation. It claimed I had funds from a settlement "in the matter of Unclaimed Funds vs Legal Recovery Services". If you received a letter like this do not respond. They get their mailing info from public records and prey on people who are in a financial bind. They are not a real company. They use a stamp instead of a postal account because they can't get a legitimate USPS account. Report them.
