The paint on my 85 Corvette was looking bad and I installed a new nose. I could not align the nose properly. The gap between the hood and the nose was too wide on each end and touching in the center.

The shop owner told me they could align it. I told him to paint the car with their best paint and clear coat. I also said to fix anything they notice that needs to be repaired, just call me if it was going to add a lot to the bill. He said no problem.

First, he kept the car for over a week when he said it would be finished is a couple of days. Oh well, I thought. As long as it looks good, I don't mind waiting.

When I went to pick up the car, I did not expect a show quality paint job, after all, this is Earl Scheib, but I did expect it to look nice. What I saw was a horror! There were huge lines running through the paint on various sections of the body. What I mean by huge is some of these line were about 12 inches long and 1/16 in wide! The shop owner expected me to accept the car like this!

He told me the lines are from stress cracks in the fiberglass. I asked him why he did not call me to let me know there was a problem. He said that the lines did not show up until the paint was finished. A little later I found that this was a lie, because the painter me that he noticed the lines right away and informed the shop owner, but the owner just said keep painting.

The shop owner was VERY rude, he was screaming and refusing to repaint the car until the painter told me this. Then his attitude changed and he said he would repaint the car.

Also, to get the nose to fit, they cut the nose in the center to even the cap between the nose and the hood. This would not be so bad if they had cut it clean and straight, but it is a jagged line and looks like crap. The shop owner, ofcourse, denies that it was cut. Lastly, when I finally pick up the car, they forgot to clear coat the fuel door. The owner told me to bring it back later and they would clear it. Yeah right. As if I am ever going there again.

I would like to add that I had a Cadillac painted before I sold it, at the Earl Scheib on 8418 BROADWAY in San Antonio, and had no problems. I also took my 87 Suburban there to have it painted. The only issue I had, was they did not mask my tail lights. I had the lenses removed so the bulbs and the silver backing was exposed. They painted right over the silver and the bulbs. I installed new bulbs and the lens covers and the lights work fine.

Also, there are a couple of places that are starting to bubble from rust underneath which means they did not prep it properly.
