In February, 2008, I signed up with Active Singles LLC (d.b.a Elite Personal Search), for the services of personal matchmaking.

They said company is located at 10100 Santa Monica Blvd., Suite 410, Los Angeles, CA 90067. Tel. 310-551-6600/310-551-4069,
personal matchmaker: 866-999-6609, Website www.elitepersonalsearch.com

On their website, Elite Personal Search claims the following:
Fully Screened Members
22 Years of Successful Introductions
Exclusive Selection of Singles in Your City
Personalized and Confidential Service

I was charged a contract amount of $ 6,000 (I rounded up) for a term period of one and a half years for Introduction Services. I made a hefty deposit and today, they have pocketed $1,600 in recurring payments.

Before joining, Elite Personal Search assured me that they had an extensive database of members, and that it was very easy to match a professional candidate like me for a life partner. I hold advanced university qualifications, and I am a professional. In a one hour meeting with so called relationship consultant Paige Grant, she assured me that their company had the ability to match every candidate successfully, and that one of her personal friends and colleague had also found a match from them. She added that it can also take a relatively shorter time as well.

However, since I joined the service, I have not been introduced to a compatible candidate, based on my criteria for a preferred match in my Supplemental Characteristics and Preferences Profile, yet I had been assured that I was an easy client to match. In March, 2008, I received an email with a picture attachment from my personal matchmaker about a candidate from another county that they had in mind for me for a personal meeting. I replied to the effect that I would consider meeting the proposed match in person, and that I should be updated on the arrangements Elite Personal Service was making for me to meet my match. I had also been assured upon initial email communication about a candidate, the company would already have made ample research and obtained significant information about compatibility. Within one day, I received a reply from matchmaker Laura Wasserman that she was waiting to hear back from the match, then she would contact me. I did not get any further updates from the matchmaker, so when it came towards the end of April with no communication, I initiated phone calls to the company. I was told several times that the matchmaker was not in the office. After about four more attempted calls on consecutive days, I finally got the matchmaker. She said that she was going to call me. I asked about the developments that followed after her email message and the supposed compatible match. She replied that the match had decided to pass the proposed meeting. I asked as to why I was not informed of this before, and the matchmaker said that they were trying to match me.

Shortly after talking with the matchmaker, I received an email about a match from another location that they deemed to be compatible with me. The proposed match was not compatible with my requirements, as I had stated them in my Supplemental Characteristics and Preferences Profile. He was divorced, he had a child, he was ten years older, and his interests were not in any way related to mine. This was very contradictory to my requirements. When I asked matchmaker Laura Wasserman about this apparent contradiction, she replied that I could possibly relax my criteria, as they thought he would be a suitable candidate. I objected to this proposal, as it was a breach of the Supplemental Characteristics and Preferences Profile that I had stated.

By the time of writing this complaint, I have not heard any further communication from the company. In the meantime, I decided to do more research about their credibility and business practices, in particular, their confidence approach, plus the marketing claim that they have arranged over thousands of successful introductions (Ref. www.elitepersonalsearch.com) . They continue to claim to have an extensive membership database of pre-screened members.

I have now discovered that Elite Personal Search is a scam with bad business practices, and that they use misleading marketing and false information to overcharge clients for substandard/and or no services. Having been a member for several months with no face-to-face introduction of a compatible candidate, I have come to the conclusion that I was misled and cheated of my hard earned money and time. In the Program Guidelines which they supplied to me upon joining, there was a statement, I quote "Your first introduction will be within four-six weeks after your background check has been reviewed. Subsequent introductions will average every four to six weeks in length unless you have asked for qualifications that may be difficult to find."

Initially, I decided to join because the company had assured me that it I was an easy candidate to match.

From my findings, and from the exorbitant fees the company charged me as a contract amount, I have been scammed. I understand that Elite Personal Search has an F rating with the BBB, and several other clients have filed similar complaints against the company as a scam. this company is a FRAUD ....

AUTHOR: nat - (United States of America)

POSTED: Wednesday, October 17, 2012

I have been scammed by this place back in 2007, and i have researched other complaints that are legitimate and follow the same pattern. The people who run this company are truly blood sucking parasitical b*stards and liars and should be investigated and jailed. Every single complaint about them is genuine and every single "positive review" is appearing always as a retaliation and never as a sincere review. I am amazed there is no class action against these vampires.

just give it time

AUTHOR: Thomas - (USA)

POSTED: Sunday, October 18, 2009

I had to wait eight months before they started working on my case.  I joined about four years ago and had very little confidence in them.  I knew that because of my physical disabilities, that it would be very difficult for them to set me up with someone who would actually marry me.  As time went on, I started getting upset.  Not at the company, but at my situation.  I realized that it wouldnt be fair of me to expect them to match me up with the perfect girl over night if they were to set me up at all.  I also did agree at my interview that there wasnt a one hundred percent chance but rather a very low chance.  Again the fault here was in my situation, not in the company or staff.  I stayed patient even though I was crying inside.

Low and behold, one day my matchmaker contacted me via e-mail with the details of two amazing women.  At the beginning, I thought this is too good to be true.  I was right.  Since then I had to wait another four months until they set me up with Rene.  Four months of contacting matchmakers and dating different girls.  It eventually paid off though.  Rene and I immediately clicked and I was flabbergasted that she was able to see through my cane and severe allergies.  She saw my inner self and found good.  This service does help.  You just need to be patient and give it time like I did.

Above complaints are not legitimate, please read

AUTHOR: Elite Personal Search Management - (USA)

POSTED: Monday, October 12, 2009

All of the above mentioned complaints are complete and utter nonsense! Elite Personal Search has an active database of well over 20,000 highly quality, well educated or self made clients all looking for a long term relationship or marriage.  If a client is not happy after a 4 month period, then we will have a conversation with them to find out why they are not happy and what changes can we make for them to ensure that we start matching them with people that are more in line with what they are looking for.  This may not work for everyone and we clearly discuss this with client if they decide to become clients of Elite.  Because the matchmaking requirements are so vastly different for each client, it does take some time for us to start to get the matchmaking process correct for each client.  Have we matched clients successfully within the first 2-3 matches, absolutely. Has it taken 8-9 matches at times, absolutely. Are there clients that are not successfully matched within the terms of their contract, absolutely. There are no promises of being matched successfully, however, I will say that clients that accept every match we present to them, are generally the clients that are successfully matched within the terms of their contract because they are giving the process a chance and we can learn about the reasons why matches are good or not good based on factual feedback, not just what they say they want, but say no to each match presented.  Again, the initial complaint was from a client that had been with Elite for a 4 month period and that is not enough time to post such a strong complaint about Elite in my opinion. Furthermore, We have never has a client that was Jewish and gay or trans gendered, so I am not sure why people are posting complaints stating that we took them on as a client when we did not. We would refer someone who is gay, l*****n, bi-sexual or trans gendered to a company that specializes in matching them, we would not take them on as a client because we do not have an active database of clients to match them with. Again, this is a good example of online consumer complaint sites like Ripoffreport.com or BBB.or (BBB is a franchise, it is not a government run agency!) that allow anyone to submit a complaint with a verification process in place to prove that the complaint is legitimate. Please do not believe everything you read and please come in and meet with us face to face to see for yourself the high quality matchmaking company that we are. Create your own judgment based on facts, not hearsay.

The Above Poster Is Laura Wasserman/Agajanian

AUTHOR: Don Keedic - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, June 03, 2009

The above poster isn't a customer, she is really Laura Wasserman Agajanian, the owner of this crack-pot crooked operation. How do I know? Because I DO! The poster claims to be from San Fransico. Well we all know what kind of people live out there. HOMOS! They don't call it "Gay Bay" for nothing.

Elite Personal Services is such a loser outfit, Laura has to spend hours a day sitting in her bathrobe, glass of gin in hand, and respond to all the unhappy customers who dare tell the truth about how they all got screwed by Ms Wasserman Agajanian and her criminal enterprise.

I have persoanlly seen Laura standing out side the State Prison trying to sign the people getting out of jail with her dating service.

sounds a little fishy

AUTHOR: Monkeyaround - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, June 03, 2009

I can't imagine anyone having a bad experience with this company. Some of my close friends have seen this company's success. I myself have one of the greatest stories in dating companies. Every person I speak to has nothing but great, positive things to say about them. Your story is a little hard to believe based on all the stories I've heard or the one that I have.

After my divorce three years ago, I wasn't at all quick to get married again and was very unhappy. I tried to forget about it and move on but I was still lonely. For two years I was just trying to get back to my single life in the most mature painless way. I got over it pretty well but still wasn't too thrilled about the possibility of me being alone forever. With that, I checked out this company after hearing from my friend about just how successful they are in setting people up with the right person. Lesa in the San Francisco office was extremely welcoming and sweet. Not in the way that gives you the impression that she was only interested in your money. That alone gave the will to sign up and pay the fee. I spoke with her for about three hours during a very comfortable interview. I told her all about my divorce, about my ex-husband and about the guy I wanted to meet. I told her about my childhood and about how I grew up. I was very surprised on how she made me feel comfortable enough to make me tell her my whole life. She even offered me coffee, cake, and other really good snacks. As I left, she patted me on the shoulder and said I'll find you someone whether you like it or not. I left with a huge smile on my face.
About a week or so later, Lesa called me with a whole list of guys she found on her records that fitted my requirements pretty well. She told me about all of them and sounded very excited for me.
The first guy, Brian was great. He was smart, tall, dark skinned and very good looking. We had a great time but still, we weren't for each other. Lesa called me literally the next day ready to hear the feedback. I didn't have to hunt her down, she called me. Now that's good service. Anyway, she set me up with three more great guys who also weren't for me, but she was still great at finding me so many guys who were the kind of men I wanted. She did her job very well. I went out with the next guy (Gary) two weeks later and he was perfect. The date lasted seven hours. Lesa called me again the next day with great news. Apparently, he really liked me and wanted a second date. Lesa set us up again a week later. Well, the second date led to the third, the fourth, the fifth, and eventually Gary and I got married. It's crazy how a year before all this I was going through a really hard time and didn't want to get re-married at all. Just signing up with this company changed all that. Now I'm married to the greatest guy ever and am much happier with him than I was with my ex husband.

So listen 'Miffed' the fact that you had a bad experience doesn't mean that you were scammed. You're upset and it's ok, but don't blow your story out of proportion because of you anger. I'll bet if you read any one of the billion success stories, you wouldn't write what you wrote above. Or at least not in that way.

They Scammed me TOO

As a Pre-op Transvestite Gay Hispanic Jewish Rabbi, I know I would be a difficult match to make, however, I was assured by Elite Match that they had extensive experience with making Jewish Gay/l*****n/Bisexual/Transgender connections. In fact I was introduced to Ms Wasserman as a Jewish l*****n who had special skills in making that 'perfect' match within my community. I fond it quite ironic that the l*****n Wasserman is now somehow a straight woman with a family. Feeling betrayed, I fould out that Ms Wasserman isnt even Jewish, her maiden name is Agajanian. She is an Armenian! ! ! ! Well, my first match was with a guy named Mister Daniel Carver. He wasnt even from California, let alone Los Angeles! He was from Oakwood, Georgia of all places. When I called the number given to me by Ms Wasserman/Agajanian, the voice mail picked up and let me tell you, it was VERY disturbing. All I seem to remember were the words, "wake up white people". My next supposed "match" was described to me as a very sucessful private security business owner named Chuck.

We decided to meet at his favorite five star restaurant for our "first date" - It was a Sizzler in Pasadena! When I politely declined he said, "Needless to say, I have a coupon for the salad bar that expires today and I normally don't splurge on such a nice place, but you are worth it, if you put out after we eat." Strike 2 Elite! My final "match" was described to me as a VERY rich Jewish man named Alan H. Mark who had an estate in BelAir on Sunset Blvd. I called Mr Mark and he invited to take me to Lowry's in Beverly Hills. I told him where I lived and he offered to pick me up. This guy seemed to be a good match. Was I ever wrong! First of all when he came to the door, he couldnt have been over 4' tall and for being Jewish, he looked a lot like Adolf Hitler - that reall creeped me out. He was wearing some cowboy outfit that made him look like a midget rodeo clown. Since he was already at my door, I figured - hey at least it's a nice dinner in a fancy restaurant. We walked to his "car" and it wasn't a car, it was an AMBULANCE! Upon seeing my shocked reaction, he told me not to worry that he was a volunteer paramedic for Bel Air Patrol and he was on call. When I got into the ambulance I was overcome with his horrible body odor.

When I mentioned it to him, he said, deodorant costs money. "This is going to be a long night" I thought. We made it to Beverly Hills in record time. Those red flashing lights and siren really cleared the traffic up La Cienega. When we were seated, Mr Moneybags told the waiter, "Seperate checks please and I will just have a glass of water" That was IT - I stormed out and never looked back. Strike 3! My advice to all the lovelorn souls in Los Angeles is to Stay Clear of these con-men and con-women. They will take your money and break your heart.

There Are Always Two Sides To Everything

AUTHOR: Stanley - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, May 25, 2009

Although I admire your desire to seek out a lifetime partner and arrange it through a somewhat "professional" way instead of the usual bar and nightclub scene, you must remember, joining a matchmaking service in the hopes of finding true love is nothing more than a pipe dream. It is no different than a guy who goes to the Philippines or any other part of South east Asia to look for a young, sweet innocent girl who's probably more than half his age and three times less than half his weight.

Matchmaking, or online dating, or whatever you wish to call it does not work. it all appears "lovey-dovey" on the surface, with photos of beautiful people and countless pages of "success" stories, with big smiling faces all pasted across their magazines and web sites, but in reality, whether you're a man or woman, (and after reading the rebuttal from a company executive, I see now you are a female) love on the Internet just cannot be found, either through matchmaking or overseas via matchmaking web sites.

It's not only a fantasy for the guy, it's even a bigger dream for the woman, especially when the man promises to bring the girl out of desperately impoverished living conditions in a Third World country with hopes and dreams of being supported for life in a country like the USA where nobody starves to death, no matter what their substandard living conditions may be.

The same goes for your case, Miffed. You say when you joined Elite Matchmakers, you included in your profile, that you are a "professional." Okay....professional what? You also say you have university degrees...in what? Your statement about yourself is vague and ambiguous. I know you said because of your work, it is difficult to meet the right kind of people for dating, but why search for someone through a dating agency when as a human being, you come into daily contact every day with other human beings. Surely someone, somewhere in your daily contacts in life might find you pleasant and attracting enough to want to date you? Let this be a lesson well learned.

A Lot of Positive Feedback All Over the Web

AUTHOR: Jackhack - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, May 25, 2009

Don't worry about a few people running around the net posting bad reviews about this comp-any. The fact is that the very HUGE majority of the customers are very happy and very patient. Miffed' like you said was a member for four months. It's not really fair to expect someone to find you your soul mate in such a short amount of time. I have a friend who didn't find the right one for two years. Eventually, they helped her. I myself have been a member for a little over a year and still have not found my wife. Patience is a virtue. Just do a little more research and you'll see many more success stories than horror stories.

Its not disgusting at all

AUTHOR: Toodles - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, May 17, 2009

Jessica,

Why is it disgusting that this woman is defending her company and her livelihood after being defamed publicly on the internet which is read by endless amounts of readers that could significantly take away from her business. She posted a justified rebuttal to defend herself. My question is why didn't "miffed" answer any of the attorney's calls? It seems like "Miffed" is just angry and doesn't follow proper protocol when there is a problem at hand.

I am interested in possibly joining this service and am doing research and came across this little battle here. Miffed's comments scared me a little and after reading the rebuttal I feel that they might not be such a valid complaint. After all, she has only been in the service for 4 months...

#2 Consumer Suggestion

Disgusting

I find it absolutely disgusting, and a negative reflection of this company for their "representative" to be giving personal information out about the original poster. I think anyone reading this will come to their own conclusion about this company merely by reading the unprofessional retort from that individual.

#1 UPDATE Employee

This report is defamatory and incorrect

This client is a 42 year old woman is has never been married or in a long-term relationship. She is a writer, but clearly not a good communicator. I certainly expected better of her, or I wouldn't have signed her up. She was given our minimum membership which is 5 matches over 18 months.

If I thought she was more marketable she would have received more. Her matchmaker, Laura Wasserman, was pregnant with twins. Needless to say, she wasn't at her best during this time. She was not feeling well much of the time, and probably wasn't as productive as she could have been. I only realized this at the end of her time with us.

I had a couple of my clients call to say that hadn't heard from Laura in a month, and I had them reassigned to another matchmaker. This complaining client never called me. I would have switched her. I agree that Laura should have called her back, but her clients who understood her pregnancy were proactive about it.

If you've never been in a relationship you might think matchmaking is like ordering a puppy. Let's specify the size, color, etc. We have no perfect clients at our company. Not one. But the ones who are not successful will insist that we introduce them to their perfect picture. I have looked through this woman's file with us, and she was matched with attractive, college-educated gentleman of her race and religion(which were the 3 things that were most important to her).

I have found that sometimes people get discouraged when someone who is a suggested match turns them down. All of a person's matches need to be approved by them first. We don't send someone out without them knowing everything about this person, including a picture. Perhaps this was difficult for this woman. I cannot understand her anger and rage. I believe this says more about her than us. She never even gave it a good try.

Think about it...when you hire a matchmaker your standards go up because you are now paying someone. So if we don't introduce you to someone who you think is "perfect" then you think we're all wrong. This is completely the wrong attitude. After each match we get feedback from you so that we can do better each time.

We have to get a sense of your dating patterns to get it right. She didn't go on one date. This was her choice. This woman has not returned calls, emails or letters from my attorney. I have compassion for her, but for her to defame me and my company is not a Christian thing to do, which she says is very important to her.

All of this information is clearly documented in her files with us.
