In May of 2012 I started an account with with SMC and EMerchant Club. I have been paying 29.95 monthly for a website hosting fee.  I have never used any web site nor have I every once ordered one product. In attempting to contact either company they are almost impossible to find and if you are lucky enough to find a phone number they do not answer the phone.

After 2 years of paying 29.95 monthly last month I decided to take over and stopped the payment at the bank. After doing this guess what?   I got a collection email letter.   What a bunch of crap.  I did finally get a phone number from the collection email and finally someone answered the phone.  To get rid of the collection letter the man told me I had to send the monthly amount  of 29.95 in and then they could cancel the account.

What another bunch of crap. I taped the total conversation and will be going to the AG's office this month.  To hell with these people.  They need to be closed down and terminated as a company with refunds to all at 100 percent of what everyone paid into the company.

I called several times after one year.   No one ever answered the phone.   Whether by plan to not answer or not the bottom line is that no one ever answered the phone and I will not take 20 minutes or more and wait, phone ques be damned.   If you have a business hire enough people to answer the phone.  

Of course, a busy person does not always think of calling every week or even every month.   This is probably what this type of company hopes to happen....sign them up, hide and maybe the person won't notice a small charge every month.   Multiple my experience by thousands or tens of thousands and maybe even millions of people.....not a bad business model.

 

The only time someone finally answered the phone was when I was sent a collection notice.   I wonder why?   The man was smooth----slick???? even.  

Well oil is smooth and slick too.   That does not mean I need to drink it.   This enterprise needs a full investigation by the Federal Trade Commission, each of the state's AG and any other appropriate agency be it state or federal.

If this method is a legit business practice then I am very happy to not be a part of the business world.   If any of the companies I worked with through my working years had done this or did their business in this manner each and every one of them would have gone out of business or been put out of business.

Sadly, there are no prosecutors today who have the will nor even the guts to take on companies of this type.   If I am incorrect in this then step forward.   The public awaits your expertise.

So Sad, My Bad, I'm Glad, SMC ___

So, SMC if you have the honesty you think you have, the integrity you desire to have and if you have the  " let's do the right thing "  then the right thing would be to refund all of the monies collected from anyone who simply signed up and never even one time used any of your services nor any of your affiliates services.

Refund the money SMC, refund the money.
