i was driving in NY on 4/21/13 when a vehicle struck my car on the highway and ran i chased this vehicle down and got the license plate number,

the vehicle came back to enterprise on a 2013 ford f150 out of maryland.

i contacted enterprise regarding this hit and run and was bounced around 3 or 4 departments given various phone numbers until i ended up at "fleet claims" due to the fact that this was a fleet vehicle

a girl named Chris answered the phone and listened to my story she then informed me that this vehicle is not insured by enterprise but by the company who leases it. when i requested the companys information or insurance information she stated this was "private information and the customer will call you" she took down my name and number.

when i asked her how she thought the company would call me when they ran from me in the first place she went into what i like to call robotic customer service mode and just kept repeating the same sentence "i cannot give out customer information"

i do not want to go through my insurance company because when the guy who hit me denies it my rates will in turn go up so id rather deal with this myself

any advice?

I did a DMV accident for naming enterprise as the registered owner of the vehicle on the thruway the state police will not do an accident report if both parties left the scene for any reason I left to get the plate number of this animal and I will not get my insurance company involved in a my way due to the fact that I have a friend going through a hit and run incident and the guy denied it happening and his rates did go up

This is what you do.

#1.  File a Hit and Run report against the Licence Number of the truck that hit your car. Be sure to get a case number that will be given to you by the police.  The police will then contact Enterprise and get the information about the person driving the truck, and they will file charges against the hit and run driver.

#2.  Contact Enterprise, and notify them that you have filed a hit and run report against Enterprise.  Legally since the car is in Enterprise's name, and they ALLOWED this individual to drive the truck, they are responsible for any damages to your car.  Remind the person of this, and tell them they will soon be hearing from the police.

#3.  With your hit and run case number on file with the police, file a claim with your insurance company using the uninsured motorist policy and get your car fixed.  The insurance company will either go against Enterprise, since they are the Legal Owner of the Auto, and who ever hit your car, had their PERMISSION to drive that car.

If you wait too long to  "Handle this yourself", you will find your window of opportunity gone. But remember before you call Enterprise, I would file a hit and run report.  Let the police do the rest.

Regardless

Regardless of what else happens you have to tell your insurance company.

Otherwise you are potentially committing fraud and are risking instant coverage termination and an inability to get insurance.

The Insurance company can and should act on your behalf in this case.

If you specify you will not be filing a claim on your insurance they should not raise your rates.

Did you report this to the police? If you don't that is a potential crime anyway and they are the ones who will be able to force Enterprise to reveal the operator.

You can not force Enterprise to reveal an operator or driver and in fact may never find out who it is as the Nice Police man and your friendly insurance company will do that and keep you out of the loop intentionally. Too many crazy people threatening and doing violence to an Idiot that deserves it before your incident caused that.

The only exception will be to sue Enterprise, and then it may be a requirement of the setelment or the process that your Lawyer not provide you with that info.
