check for yourself That's just common sense/cents!

I attended the Reno Hilton poetry convention
I admit it was costly, but it was a unique experience. Someone I know won 3000.00 for thier'
poem and someone else I know won a 1000.00 door
prize.I consider myself as having intuitive
qualities. If they put one over on me,then they
deserve an Emmy.I doubt that Ed Asner and Leslie
Nielson would compromise thier'integrity and
public respect to help scam some unsuspecting
people such as myself and I'm sure with thier'
business savaay,a poetry scam is not worth thier'
careers.The poets that I heard,deserved to be
there. However, the judging that gets you there,I
know nothing about.People have to remember business is business and everyone has a system for
capital gain. There has to be some way to cover
costs. That's just common sense/cents!

Here's a statement from the Reno Hilton regarding the event in September

Thank you for your recent e-mail. The Reno Hilton is hosting the Famous Poets Society for their annual convention over the dates of September 2-7, 2004. The 800 number you mentioned is our toll-free reservation line.

The Reno Hilton provides over 5,000 complimentary parking spaces, as well as complimentary valet parking, for our guests.

The special group rate for this convention is $94.00, single or double occupancy, plus 12% occupancy tax. There are no other costs associated with the guest room rate.

please feel free to contact me if you have any other questions. Thank you!

The Famous Poets Society is using THE RENO HILTON'S name and address, saying your hotel is thier "convention headquarters" - using the same address but a phone number of 1-800-648-5080 - and
thier phone number is 1-800-498-0399.

I have browsed your web site and found nothing to say that there is a convention to be held at your hotel September 4-6, 2004, with guests such as Ed Adsner and Leslie Nielson. In the letter I received, it says, "Famous Poets and the Reno Hilton will accommodate you with open arms." Also "The Hilton is providing free valet parking for all poets who drive..." I believe this is deceptive, in that it conveys the idea that the Reno Hilton is endorsing this event.

These are probably things your hotel provides to every guest and they Famous Poets Society is trying to use it to thier advantage, as a ploy, to make people like me think this convention is ligitimate. I have an entire letter and flyer promoting your hotel, but it seems as an endorser for the event.

Please contact me with information regarding the use of your hotel's name and famous reputation being used without permission or endorsement. I would like to let other poets know about this scam, if there is one, and have proof to back up my suspicions. If this is ligitimate and you do endorse and 'sponsor' this convention, I would also like that information and hopefully you will make the information available on your site.

Thank you for your time.

reno hilton convention non- exsistant check yourself ..Thieves and Exploitation Society

AUTHOR: Terra - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, June 28, 2004

I to in aspirations to release my pain;as well as be told "you are talented" have been scammed.
I logged on to "The Hilton Hotel, Reno Nevada"
It was quit simple to discover really. They have a link titled " Scheduled Events" Now in my opinion a huge convention / work shop / Multi thousand dollar give away, is an event. There was nothing on the site that confirmed the " Famous Thieves and Exploitation Society" Please do not fall victim. I understand the disapointment! I have never shared my poetry before. I felt I had reached out the best way I knew how. As the thought of reading my poetry face to face is not imaginable due to fear. I was truly ready to save my pennies to attend. In my heart they had accepted me. It was my confirmation that I was sane and others could relate to my tragedy. I am repulsed by the very idea of taking advantage of a poet. My poetry is personal like a diary. and they have raped it.
