I helped a friend out to buy a car this past saturday. It was his first time buying a car from a used car lot. They saw him coming. Not only did the price change several time so did the down payment, monthly payment and then did not tell him about a deferred payment charge of over $1,600 to be made in one month.
They also have an interest rate of over 27 percent on the car and did none of tthe repairs they were supposed to make. The car door won't open from inside the passengers door. The windshield wipers won't work and I'm now assuming there will be other problems.
What angers me most is that they told him just sign the papers or he could not have the car. he did not know any better and did not read anything.
i wish someone at the state level would nail these people. And after all the complaints I see here why aren"t they?

Trust me when I say they have something coming for them. All those comments are from current employees. It's funny how low ppl go for money. I wonder if he even cares about his 2 sons...

Help Is Not Giving Someone $$

Did you tell him to read the documents?? Did you tell him to check out the car?? Did you check out the car?? Giving someone who doesn't know any better...money...isn't help. Help is being there and telling your 'friend' he is getting screwed and don't take the deal....
i wish someone at the state level would nail these people. And after all the complaints I see here why aren"t they?
Because they followed the law. Car dealers are not obligated to give you the best deal. They are obligated to give themselves the best deal, just like any other business would, except more so. You are obligated as a customer to seek the best deal for yourself. If the deal got to that point....you use your feet and walk out. It sounds like your friend was completely unprepared for shopping in ANY car dealership, let alone this one. It's too bad because if everyone was prepared to get the best deal for themselves, no dealership like this one could survive, not because they did anything illegal, but because they would not sell any cars - period...

What illegal happened that would warrant state intervention?

You just can't fix stupid. It may be a bit of a Ripoff, but doesn't appear to break any laws.
Hope your friend learned from this and it won't happen again.
"The car door won't open from inside the passengers door. The windshield wipers won't work "
Wasn't this apparent during the test drive?
