We bought a 99 Chrysler Concorde in Sept. After driving it 1200 miles (as a second car) we were told it needed a new motor.

The sales manager, general manager, and owner have told me that although they know these particular cars have an oil sludge problem, they sold it to us anyway. They lied to us about the condition of the motor on this car, and will not return our calls, will not return our car, and this is after they promised to help us.

Their offer of help came after we begged them to give us a break. They worked with the bank to get us approved at 17% interest, and now refuse to even return our calls. The better business bureau told us that we have no recourse because its been longer than 30 days. Our little family, having depended on them and ended up getting screwed, will be selling everything we have this Christmas, to pay our bills on this car.

DO NOT BUY A CAR FROM THESE PEOPLE

Funny timing

AUTHOR: Fury Motors Sucks - (U.S.A.)

Funny timing that Thomas' response happened a day after I filed the report.

I am a full time student, work full time and have a toddler who was with me the day we came in looking for the car. We ran a car-fax report on the car and it came back clean. Consumer reports doesn't mention anything about the motors on this style of car.

The dealer also said they did a full inspection on the car, and just changed the oil. When a 'reputable' dealer says the car will run, calling it out as a certified used car, and says the car has a warranty, has a clear car fax report, and only has 62000 miles, any reasonable person would believe that they wouldn't sell you a piece of crap.

I guess I just don't have the time you do to respond and criticize people for not doing point #99 out of 100. There IS such a thing as fraudulent sales practices. Whether people like you choose to agree is not my problem.

What is true is the ability and likelihood a person will get screwed if they buy a car from a dealer thinking that they are honest about it. Thats our true wake up call. The consumer can only do so many things to ensure that getting screwed won't happen. Unscrupulous people will say anything to sell a used car. Thats my point.

Thomas - get a life and get out of the library and away from your computer. The mere fact that you would blame the consumer and protect a used car dealer just shows that you are as unscrupulous as they are AND You are TWICE more pathetic than we are, lol.

If I remember correctly, as a used car purchase CR lists the 99 Chrysler Concorde as NOT RECOMMENDED.

A 1999 could have accumulated a lot of miles. Many people perform the minimum maintanence and use the cheapest oil & filters for oil changes. [People can get away with using the cheapest oil & filters for 90K - 120K on a new car but the savings are minimal.] I use Mobil-1 or AMSOIL and I save money because these oils last for many more miles meaning I need to buy fewer oil filters!

And you believed a car dealer? My FIL once said "Don't trust anyone!"

Doing some good research before you ever buy is usually a lot less effort than having to earn the extra money you will need to correct a poorly-researched or non-researched purchase. Visit your public library.
