The 17,000$ (this number varies from 12,995 to 17,000 based on other reports) price tag for training on a program that doesn't actually require certification, is equivalent to on the job training should an employer be interested in hiring an individual and giving him/her hands on training without the high price tag while getting paid. The certificate of completion is for graduating or the more appropriate term successful completion of the course and is not recognized by employers based on my findings. I was informed that 9,000$ where for fuel expenses which equates to about 1,800 gal in diesel fuel at roughly 5.00 gal through out a 6 week course of which 1/3 the time is spent in a classroom (based on their brochure). Examples a Caterpillar excavator 320 BL burns 10 gal of fuel an hour at 160 hours is 1,600 gal for operation of one machine (they promise to train you on multiple). Example 2 -  case 580 backhoe loader burns 1 gal an hour in heavy use. Based on these inconsistencies which are easily verifiable this is not a legitamate program designed to help people rather it creates a few jobs for this within the organization (public information from the BBB counts only 9 people as part of the company) while providing very little help to people who believe they are getting it (highly misleading). There are many more examples I could mention however this would only help the company "adjust their tactics to be more effective".

Licensing or Certification

In addition to on-the-job training, you can enroll in schools that have construction training programs that teach how to operate heavy equipment. Since there are generally no licensing or certification requirements for a backhoe operator, these training programs are optional

Veterans seems like an easy target for a paper-mill since after all "its not their money their spending" so considerably less time and consideration is given to accurately review and assess the facts. Primarily that they are spending 17,000$ on a program that does not guarantee a job. In this tough economy any one looking for a job can easily overlook the onconsistencies based on desperation and a good sales pitch (they are good salesmen) It seems to me if the owner was truly interested in helping he would offer employment in his own company upon succesful completion of his own course. As this is not the case and certifications are not required to operate the equipment people are to train on and are usually based on the discretion of the employer that they would be wiser to invest their time in trying to locate. Officially they only offer assistance to obtain entry level positions anyway.
