This outfit calls itself INDIANA VETERANS RELIEF FUND They are using a storefront address at 157 Bethel, Suite B, Beech Grove, IN 46107. Telephone (317) 783-1974.
Indiana Veterans Relief Fund is operating under a blanket organization called Common Ground Charities, Inc. A Michael Q. Risley, Jr. is listed as Director of Fund Raising and a Tanya Risley is shown to be the Office Manager.
I visited the location and talked with Ms. Risley. The rented office space is essentially a telephone Boiler Room. I viewed about a half-dozen people sitting at small work areas facing three walls wearing headphones and mikes making telephone calls. The front office room and rear telephone room are unkempt and dirty with no trappings of a veterans organization. No Flags, no wall pictures, no sign of any patriotism.
I confronted Ms. Risley with some pointed questions. How many telephone calling cards have been issued to American troops? (She said they gave some to departing troops at Camp Atterbury but couldn't tell me when or how many.) How much money has been solicited since this operating began last year? (She told me the figures have not been compiled and are not available.)
Ms. Risley informed me they are legal. I told her there is a difference of being legal on paper and morally correct in practice! (I am convinced this outfit is only interested in lining their own pockets with cash from proud Americans whom think they're helping our military and our men and woman in uniform.)

The Indiana Veterans Relief Fund, is a program of a 501(c)(3) IRS approved not for profit charity, with a tax number of 20-2896847. We have aided the hero's of our armed forces and less fortunate families for over 5 years now. It was created as a way to unite caring and compassionate people to grant aide. The IVRF has taken part in many programs: The "International Long Distance Calling Card Program" was created to provide veterans with international calling cards to call home. These soldiers have had an extended time away from home and NEED to keep in touch with their families. Not only to hear a familiar voice, but to let those loved ones know that they are alive and well. Since 2006, we have provided over 811,000 minutes in calling cards to these service men and women stationed overseas. The "Children and Family Services Program" was created to assist the children and families of active military personnel who are financially challenged. Many members of our current military must leave full time jobs. Out of respect for their willingness and dedication to our country, helping their families is the least we can do!
Furthermore, the office at 157 Bethel, in Beech Grove, Indiana, was the original FUND RAISING office, and was dedicated to make sure the funds for these projects continue to provide these services to the HERO'S that keep our freedom intact by giving their lives for our country! It may not have been one of the nicest offices, but due to the fact that we are NON PROFIT, we like to make sure as much of the money received from our gracious supporters, is put to use in the most EFFECTIVE way! Which by our standards, is putting those funds toward what we say we are going to do! Not investing in lavish offices that would in turn take away from the money we CAN and DO give to those who deserve the kind donations we receive!
Not only was this "ripoff report" written in 2007, but the person who wrote it "Brian" simply copied a report written by US Military Veteran who did not complete his research before writing it. In turn, if you scroll down the page of the ORIGINAL report, you will find that not only did he retract his statement, but he also put many kind words about the programs we conduct.
Remember, it is up to you to do any further research you feel is needed. But when you do, remember to scroll DOWN the page! Any rebuttals or retractions are filed further down the page, after the original report! Thank you to all those who help us provide the means to help our military personnel and those families in need! Your help is greatly appreciated, and we WILL do what is necessary to continue to provide help to these HERO'S and their loved ones!!
