I notified Labor Ready about an employee they hired who had a open criminal case in nevada regarding child endangerment/child abuse whom they had working at a High School. They told me they ran a background check on the guy and the only thing showing was a car jacking chrge that was 6 or 7 yeats old. I asked them if they ran a nationwide background check and the woman said that they only check california. Great job labor ready..i told them out of NEVADA...yet they refused to take things serious. They employ anyone as long as their record is clean in CALIFORNIA.. they currently have the guy working at a car dealership ironically enough.
Companies should not hire labor ready for staffing because they are just putting themselves at risk of getting sued by someone if one of these criminals they put to work flips out and physically harms someone. Nationwide background checks need to be required of all persons employed through labor ready. What they are telling criminals is that its ok that they are child abusers or theives as long as its not in the state in which you are working for labor ready. Commit a crime against a child in one state and move to another and you can still have a job working with children. All I got was attitude from the two people I spoke to at labor ready as if I was the bad guy.
Seemed like they protect criminals rather than good innocent people.

I am not an employer of Labor Ready nor do i or have i ever worked for Labor Ready. I am someone who knew OF a person with a criminal record against a child employed through labor ready worknig at a school.. i made labor ready AWARE of who they had working around children and they did nothing about it. the guy also has car jacking on his record and now is employed THROUGH labor ready at a car dealership. Like i said in my first posting, Labor Ready will and has KNOWINGLY employed someone who is abusive towards innocent children at schools because Labor Ready failed to run a NATIONWIDE background check. Example..California runs pretty extensive background checks before they allow anyone to work in child services. SO why wont Labor Ready do the same before they employ Ex Cons around our children!!!

When I have needed gas money at times I have used labor ready. Those folks pay NOTHING. I mean honestly. They send folks out to job sites that are 30 miles are more from their home for a four hour minimum wage shift working in a hot warehouse in the middle of July Lifting heavy boxes. It truly is a company for the very desperate.
What are you expecting? Good GOD!
The reason Labor Ready pays PENNIES basically is because the Employers who use them want the cheapest absolute labor. They don't want to pay a FAIR MARKET RATE for the work that is being done! So if Labor Ready started subjecting everyone to super strict background checks they wouldn't be able to fill their orders for jobs that pay, honestly when you take the time to sit around and wait on something to come through, BELOW MINIMUM WAGE.
I live in Fort Worth, TX and I recently used a labor ready near my home. They sent us out to a job that was around 40 miles from where we lived for $7.25 an hour. It was to a Warehouse and the entire staff there were TEMPS! They didn't even have enough people show up.
It is EXPLOITATIVE LABOR for the TRULY DESPERATE!
If you want an employee with a PRISTINE RECORD you're going to have to come out of your pocket with some REAL CASH because those folks have MORE OPTIONS!
