This review is the first of many that I will be posting on Maria Jaffe Law and I will also be posting on Maria Jaffe's Linkedin business profile as well as many other sites like Maria Jaffe on Ripoff Report as well.

On no occasion was Maria Jaffe organized, informative, or helpful - outside of the initial consultation.  Maria Jaffe was asked if she could represent me in court in 2 days time and she did appear.  My initial payment was $500 and concerned my daughter being taken out of the country by Susan Storiale.  I denied permission.  I lost, but that is not the reason I am writing this.  The result of that trip, my daughter was injured when being picked up by a boat from snorkeling (she was 9 years old) and she had to go to the emergency room.  Susan Storiale never informed me of this - an egregious act by a conniving woman.  I informed Maria Jaffe, she never responded and never made recommendations regarding an additional hearing, filing a complaint - nothing.   When my daughter and ex-wife returned to the U.S. my daughter  went to the emergency room again - never was I informed.  Pitiful!  I informed Maria Jaffe, she never responded - she could care less.  I would expect a follow-up communication, a complaint files with my exes attorney, a follow up with the judge - something.  

Moving on - Maria Jaffe and Maria Jaffe Law, in an attempt to send me documentation to fill out, sent me a pre-filled document with a previous client's tax information including social security information, salary, address - everything that a dishonest person would need to steal someone's identity.  In addition, the person's spousal information, social security number, address, work place, address and other information that a dishonest person could use to steal someone's identity.

I informed Maria Jaffe of this and she sent a blank document without apology, or instructions on how to delete the information so that spammers, hackers, and the like could not access it.  I doubt highly that she informed her previous client either.  But I do have one of her client's social security numbers, her spouses social security number, address, salary, their childs name, social security information and the like.   So anyone that is considering Maria Jaffe or Maria Jaffe Law whether found by recommendation or searching on the web or finding her through Maria Jaffe Linkedin - should know that there is no security, in my experience or opinion, that your confidential information will be secure.  In this day and age, identity theft happens weekly - and Maria Jaffe seems to not care less about her clients confidential information.

On August 7th, I sent a list of reasons why my daughter shoudl not go out of the country with Susan Storiale, opposing counsel made it very clear in court that none of my documentation was submitted to him even though I sent that documentation within days of receiving it.  Maria Jaffe asked me repeatedly for documentation that I had already submitted to her - so she was disorganized and uncaring about the case.  I informed Maria Jaffe that I did not want to speak at the hearing, given the emotional issue involved, I did not want to say anything that would jeopardize the case - meaning becoming emotional.  Within 30 seconds, I was being swarn in and I did 99% of the speaking, Maria Jaffe stood there doing and saying almost NOTHING!  I was furious.  She joked with the opposing counsel prior to the hearing asking who won the Cubs game, trying to be friendly and then turning around and asking me again what the reasons were that I did not want my daughter going out of the country.   I submitted an entire page of reasons to her - she simply didn't do Anything to prepare.   

During the REAL case - Maria Jaffe ignored my request to conduct research on the documentation and failed to inform me of the court date.  After multiple non-communications I fired her - unbeknownst to me, the evening prior to court.  At 10:27am Maria Jaffe sent an email "You fired me yesterday so why aren't you here?"  I missed the court date, judgement for the plaintiff, and now I must appear in court or be in-contempt.  I repeatedly sent emails to Maria Jaffe asking for an update on the case, when is the court date, what is happening with the case and she never responded until the day before - simply forwarding the opposing attorney's offer and recommending I take it.   

I cannot imagine a more incompetent attorney.  I have filed a complaint with the Illinois Disciplinary Commission for a Request for Investigation.  This is not because I lost the case - it is due to total and complete incompetence and disregard for her client and my daughter.
