I did not know the correct part number to order for my air compressor. The one I had tried to order was incorrect. So I decided to call so they can tell me what I need.

When talking to the so called expert, I gave him the model number and the part number listed on my part/manuals I had on my air compressor.

He said that part number no longer existed, and I needed to get this one. So I said he would know. So I ordered it.

When I receive it, it wasn't even close to what I needed. When I returned it, they charged me a restocking fee, and of course I had to pay for the shipping.

I did call for a return number as instructed, but said I would have to pay both.

I called and talked to his supervisor, but he said I was incorrect, and they did everything right. Well obvioulsy they didn't otherwise I would have the correct part.

I should not only get my 8.20 back for the restocking fee, but 10 for the shipping. What a terrible customer service...

Bad business

AUTHOR: dberg - ()

POSTED: Tuesday, July 09, 2013

Don't bother with this business.  We tried ordering from this company a few times and each experience ended badly.  Parts are never available as listed online or parts are on "back order" for some reason.  Then, we had to wait days for a refund.  Bad business practices!!

Good Company - Master Tool Repair

I am a local customer and I have ordered from this company many times. I
have, also, ordered from Troy-Bilt, Sanborn Mfg (Coleman), Bostitch and
others. They all have the same policy - you must provide a make, model,
part number, etc. If the part number no longer exists, then a
replacement part, universal part (or work around) is suggested. The
information for suggested replacement parts or fixes will come from the manufacturers and not a service center (Master Tool Repair). All companies have a return policy and they charge a fee to anyone returning parts to them (including the service centers).

The service center is often a "middle man" and they usually get their info from the large manufacturers.  It doesn't sound like a case of "terrible customer service" but a case where someone doesn't agree with the manufacturer's return policy.  I would call the manufacturer and file a complaint regarding their return policy.  I hope this helps anyone in the future.
