I reluctantly allowed my son to use my credit card number to try XBOX live for three months. He lost interest in it, so I decided not to renew it. I read my son's email and found that the account had been automatically renewed. Fine.

I went to the XBOX live website and found that they dangle the possiblity of turning off automatic renewal or cancelation, but doing so is impossible. Obviously microsoft expects people to want to leave at some time, but they do not want to allow them to do so. They are mafia-like, underhanded sneak thieves, wantint to continue taking your money whether you want them to or not. This sort of activity is obviously criminal in intent and, if not illegal, it certainly should be.

Any business who values its customers would certainly not resort to suck underhanded trickery. Instead of tricking people into buying your garbage, why not just make something that they would be glad to pay for?

How were you prevented from canceling?

AUTHOR: Edgeman - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, August 08, 2010

It took me about 10 seconds to find the cancellation page on the Xbox website. Here is what it says:

To cancel your Xbox LIVE membership, please sign in to your account at http://www.xbox.com/accounts and cancel automatic renewal, or call Xbox Support.

When you disable automatic renewal, your current Xbox LIVE Gold membership will not automatically renew at the end of its term.

Since you were apparently unable to cancel your son's membership at the site, I'll post the phone numbers for you.

Hours of operation

Phone assistance is available seven days a week.
