When the two guys came selling security systems door to door, my wife and I thought a security system would be a great idea.  Sadly, we were lied to about several important features of the security system.  First, make certain that you either have everything that they say written down or have a room full of witnesses who can testify to what they have said.  We were told that we were getting an infrared camera.  What we got was an ordinary black and white camera with an infrared sensor that we had to report within days of getting the system.  A black and white camera produces black photos when an infrared sensor detects something at night.  Needless to say, we sent an email to Devcon wanting to cancel immediately which we should have followed through; however, it is very difficult to get them unless you have decided to stop paying for their service in which case they do a great job of getting in touch with you then.  The sensor that was put on the glass door fell off and broke due to the poor quality of the sensor.  Any time there is a cloud in the sky, our Monitronics security system loses the connection to their network.  We were told originally that we only lost the signal on our system because they used Verizon for the original card; however, we have had similar issues with the A T & T replacement card (if it is really A T & T) since we don't have that issue with our A T & T cellular service.  I have since reported them to the better business bureau.  We originally used Devcon Security who promised that our system would receive yearly service calls.  Monitronics doesn't come out and inspect the system or replace things like batteries.  Instead, they expect you to go out and find the batteries that are not your ordinary AA batteries and break open the system and replace the batteries yourself.  The system is so fragile that my wife and I have been afraid to touch it.  Even without touching it, we have gone for months where the system would not work and just gave us exclamation marks.  I would highly recommend that you get security from anyone instead of them.  If your things are worth protecting, go get a system from Sam's club or Walmart or even directly through A T & T; however, don't trust Monitronics.
