A year ago we purchased a 1998 mustang from the Hunters for our daughter. The Hunters are my parents, and my brother. My daughter, of course is their little grand daughter, and niece. Anyway, moving on... They did us a favor, and found the little car for us, and we in turn purchased the car from them. That's what they do. They sell, and trade. After we paid them cash money for the car it took them close to a month to get the title to me. I called to check on the status of the title every other day, or so, and was NEVER once rude about it. Well, upon the purchase, Corey Hunter told my daughter that he'd fix a chip on that was on the hood of the car in the near future. That never happened, and when we asked them about it we were told, because my daughter got some body piercings they were no longer going to fix the hood, or any of the other extra stuff, such as tenting the windows... Well, excuse me, but it's not about "their hurt feelings" over my daughter getting piercings. It was part of the deal when we purchased the car, and a promise made. As for the extras, that's their perogative to not want to do those things, BUT it was the very first we'd heard about the "extra stuff". Mrs. Sue Hunter finally agreed to pay for the hood out of HER OWN pocket, but of course, that never materialized either. The story just gets worse. Okay, backing up... We got the title, and got that squared away. Then much to our surprise, my daughter is friends with the former owner of the car whom let us in on some details about the car. Okay, when we got the little car it was in desperate need of new tires, and was told by the Hunters that, "Most of the time used cars come as is..." Okay, no big deal. Well, the kid is over at our home, hanging out, and noticed the raggedy tires. He asked my daughter what had happened to the brand new tires that his dad put on the car... We hadn't a clue. It was wierd to me that they gave us the whole "used car as is" speech when "as is" is to sell the car to us with the tires that were on it. NOT to take them off, and put bald raggedy tires on it, and then give it to us. Anyway, we put new headlights on the car, and blinkers, new shocks, and while getting tires, the tire people noticed two lug nuts were missing from one of the raggedy tires. Okay, the fact that these people would take the brand new tires off, and present the car like that to their niece, and grand daughter is sorry, but not to make sure the little car is safe to drive is well, down right dispicable. Since then, no efforts from the Hunters to apologize, or make good on their crooked deeds have been made, and I am Sue's daughter, my daughter is her grand daughter. Also, early on I was asked by Mrs. Hunter (Sue) to please, if we ever sold the car to give Corey (my brother) half of the prophet since they gave us such a great deal on the car. Hey Mrs. Hunter, you guys already took your prophets when you took those tires off of the mustang, and replaced them with bald ragged tires for you little grand daughter to drive around on. Shame on all of them!

TIME TO LET IT GO...

AUTHOR: Jon - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, April 13, 2006

This is Karla, the daughter to the Hunters. I just want to say that I'm sorry for posting this report. I was angry, and hurt, and was under the mistaken impression that me, and my kids were more to the Hunters than just another costumer.

Corey, I forgive you for telling mother that I gave you hell over the title. You know, I know, and God knows, that wasn't true. I forgive you, Sue for calling Susie white trash after she got the piercings. She cheered 2 years straight, Drill Team 11th, and 12th grade, Brown belt in Karate after 3 and 1/2 years, active in her church youth group, was nominated for Who's Who of American High School Students, God fearing, loyal, loving, considerate, honest, giving. Above all, she loved, and trusted you. A far cry from "white trash". No, there was no contract stating that you guys would fix the crack in the hood, just your word, and I trusted that, and held it dear. I may never see the Hunters again, but I do pray that God blesses them with good health, wealth, spiritual quenching, and all the great things life has to offer.

This is done, and Jon (my husband) if you come here, and read this... Honey, let it go. Your daddy, and my daddy would tell you, the guns aren't worth it. They'd tell you to blaze your own trail, and leave your own legacy, and learn what to do, and what not to do from those whom have hurt you, and those that have blessed you.

God bless all,

I'm not too sure...

AUTHOR: Jim - (U.S.A.)

I wasn't really concerned with the tires. I know now, I should of been. I'm their daughter, and they told me the car was nice, and perfect for my daughter, so I took their word for it, and didn't look at the tires to be quiet honest with you, and didn't really know the condition of the tires until York Tire informed me of how the tires didn't fit the car, were bald down to the metal, and lug nuts were missing... Keep in mind, this is their 15 year old grand daughter... I don't think it's right.

What ever happened to doing the right thing?

AUTHOR: Jim - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, March 30, 2006

I agree with your response to Marc. If they would do you all the way they did you with the tires and not following through with fixing the crack in the hood then I sure would not want to do business with them. Marc mentioned maybe they took the tires off to put them on a car they could make a profit off of. Well that's probably what they did but it sure doesn't make it right. They should of left the new tires on the car PERIOD. Ture enough the fixing of the hood may not be much but they agreed to do it nonetheless. The Smith family aren't looking at just being out for the lug nuts and touch up paint. If I remember reading it right**** He said he put new tires, shocks, headlights, blinkers, brakes... I'd say you guys did indeed break even. Also, you mentioned all the time it took them to get the title to you. Did you all do a title search on the car to make sure it hadn't been totaled? That within it's self smells fishy to me. Think about it. If they'd screw you guys on the tires and the hood... What else are they capable of? I wish you a good outcome on this but I wouldn't hold my breath for these people to do the right thing. I'm betting they have no shame and are thinking you still owe them. I've dealt with their kind many many times in my old age. God Luck,

What tires were on the car when you agreed to buy it?

AUTHOR: Dave - (Canada)

POSTED: Thursday, March 30, 2006

If it had the "raggedy" tires when you agreed to buy it, then you got what you paid for.

When dealing with family members, it seems to be more important to put everything in writing than if you're dealing with strangers.

That way, if they did renege on promises, and change the value of the car (by switching tires) you can always get a judge to reverse the contract.

It wasn't just touch up paint. The chip needed to be filled in, was starting to rust! The lug nut... It's not the money out for the lug nut you goofy guy, it's the thought that they didn't care anymore for their grand daughter than to check, and see if all was well with the car. Excuse me, but missing lug nuts is a safety hazzard! Just because someone is your family, doesn't give them the right to be crooks! Don't worry, I don't ever plain on dealing with these people again. I may of been a little blind, but I'm not stupid!

In Response to Don h*e...

No, the man bought the tires for the car especially for the sell of the car to the Hunters. The man, his ex-wife, the son, and several close friends of theirs told me the tire story. Not to mention, this man works for my brother's father-in-law, and it would gain him NOTHING by lying, if anything, it'd hurt him.In fact, the tire switch came out by accident, and the man, and son was just puzzled. We paid them 3,500 for the car, it took them a month to get the title to me, AFTER we paid them the money. Good deal?! We put shocks, brakes, new blinkers, headlights, tires. I'd say we just about broke even on the car! So you're telling me that it's okay for them to replace the brand new tires with old, ragged tires that are meant to be on a neon, or caviler? The tires didn't even fit?!! You're right, never do business with family, and what's more, if these people would do me this way, what the hell are they doing to just the average joe? You must be as big of a crock as they are! Furthermore, I'm not trashing these people. IT's the truth, every single WORD.

How do you know who switched the tires?

AUTHOR: Marc - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, March 29, 2006

It could have been done by the seller and he didn't feel like asking his son's permission first, the Hunters could have wanted the tires for a vehicle they were actually going to profit from, or the tires were the same tires but more worn than "the kid" thinks they were. Maybe they were stolen, who knows? The Hunters are not answerable to you in any case just because you are related, and you come off as a disrespectful twit by trashing your parents on the internet. You say they "sell and trade" like it's a crime, but they also buy too, don't they? Or is everything free to them? You're out the $4 cost of two lug nuts and $6 for touch-up paint, and you're attempting to ruin your parents' business over it. If they see this report I hope they charge you double the next time or do like I do, refuse to sell to relatives because it always comes back to bite you in the a*s. I know they aren't holding their breath waiting for half of any profit you make on the car. They also must have given you quite a deal in the first place to even make a statement about you making a profit on any sale.
