I'm sure my report will be a duplicate of everyone elses. I received a letter for possibly winning a sweepstakes of $2,100,000.00. On the same day I get a call for a chance to win the sweepstakes of $2,100,000.00. I talked to the person and took a survey. Then he talked me into purchasing magazines, so I bought 2 magazines.
One hour later I called to cancel the order and the women said, she does not handle that part of it, She said she could not help me. Next thing, they TOOK $67.08 from my account. Up to this day I cannot get in touch with the bad guys. This is what I love; I received a letter from National Magazine Exchange saying that I have 3 more consecutive monthly payments of $67.08. They sent me a bill.
In my mind, I, the good guy cancelled my order an hour after I purchased 2 magazines. Even tho the women who I talked to about the cancellation said she doesn't do that, she picked up the phone to where they said to call for customer support. She lied, national magazine exchange lied.
If these people are going into our accounts, without giving us a number other than listing to music, I beleive that is called robbery. So, if nothing is done, other than writing letters, then is it legal for the good guys to take care of what needs to be taken care of, since no one is taken care of it.
From one of the angry good guys that was hit hard with the economy crisis.

Angeredbystupidity (AKA absentmindedlystupid) says "Why Cancel"? Answer is because it is a puke slime spew joke to buy these magazines and any other krap NME sells. Lets duel dude if you want.
Fact 1 - NME was fined $535,000 for doing bad illegal stuff. And I can go on and on and on. Hike off stupidlyfoulandrank.

You agreed to the billing of 67.08. Why would you cancel an hour later? Why wouldn't you ask for the number? Why should we expect you to need the number before you get your welcome package in 1 week with the customer service number on it?
It wouldn't make sense to say, "Oh and if you change your mind after we're done with this call, here's the number"
We DO give you the number but it comes on your welcome letter. Your service hasn't started so why would you need customer service?
Silly, right?

Cancel you bank account or they will keep taking your money.
NME's goal is to TAKE YOUR MONEY!
They are leaches. Never give out your bank account or credit card number.
Folks this really works for a cancelation and refund. The economy is very bad and you worked hard for what little money you have so don't let these magazine sales people take it from you.
Call customer retention and do the following. (call 800-301-6247 or 800-325-3155 or 727-524-3600 or 727-535-0205). If you get someone who isn't helping HANG UP and call again.
The following data came from an employee in the customer retention dept.
We have rules. When someone threatens to call their credit card company and reverse the charge, and call the Better Business Bureau, and the Attorney General, and their lawyer, and the AUDIT BUREAU OF CIRCULATION, we CAN NOT try and 'save' the account we have to go straight to canceling the account with a full refund. If someone does make a threat and we don't cancel the account we'll get in trouble.
'I'm an employee of the national magazine exchange, I work in the Customer Service department actually called Customer RETENTION because our job is to get customers not to cancel. We get commission based on 'cancel requests' saved. We are scripted and have certain offers we have to make. First we try and spread the payments out then give them 4 years for the price of 3....and so on.
For people turned into a collection agency tell them you cancelled or that you want to cancel. NME uses collection agencies as a bluff but hasn't turned people over to the credit rating bureaus because they do not want the law after them. Try calling back and demanding a refund. That will work and they will leave you alone. If a collection agency calls tell them you cancelled and they will close your account. BE FIRM. In 20 years NME has never reported people to the credit rating bureaus
Also if you waited too long to cancel the first year you can still cancel years 2, 3, and 4. NME DOES NOT pay for those years until the year begins. They can cancel any later year that has not started and if the phone rep says otherwise they are lying.
