Since I subscribe to Avast for computer protection, I looked for Avast tech support.  I figured they'd fix it for free since I already pay them. There are two numbers for this company.  They are  855-413-5001, or 888-977-7961.  The first number is the one I called and talked to 'Sam' and later 'Sid'.  I gave him permission to get into my computer.  He starts finding all these things wrong supposedly.  Now that I've been a sucker, these 'tech support' companies probably all do this.  Anyway he said he'd fix it for me for $249.  They don't want a credit card, they want your checking account routing number----Another red flag I should have thought about before doing.

After giving them the routing number and account number, he did make my computer run faster and told me if there are any problems, call the phone numbers.

My computer would lock up frequently and I would have to log off completely.  I called them back and told them about the problem.  He worked on it and told me to try it.  It should be fixed.  It wasn't, so I called them again and got a new person this time.

I told him the problem and he checked my computer out by remote access.  He told me my problem was the Avast security and it wasnt' meant for my computer.  He told me if I wanted everything fixed, he would have to remove Avast and install the protection that was meant for my computer.  I told him go ahead.  He then told me it would be $100.

I told him I'd already paid $249 for their services.  He said that didn't include the new virus protection.  I ended up giving him the routing and account information again.

He took Avast off and installed AVG.  I started thinking, if these guys are tech support for Avast, why are they saying the product is no good?  I contacted Avast and they said I didn't get their support.  They want me to re-install Avast and get rid of AVG!  He said the Avast program is the correct one and offers more protection.

It all adds up to getting screwed out of $349 and not much to show for it.  The computer still has problems that they can't fix and the last few times I've tried to call, no one will come on line.  After waiting for a while, a recording comes on and says "goodbye" and disconnects.  I can't believe how stupid I've been.
