I purchased a 2006 Covertible Mini-Cooper in June, 2012 off eBay. I felt comfortable doing so, as this seller had "100% positive feedback" which is what they seem to rely on to defend themselves. Unfortuntaly, I also left them positive feedback early in my ownership. I am kicking myself as I should've waited! I then could've not only reported them to eBay and gotten a full refund, but, I also could've left negative feedback to warn others! As it is, I did recently call eBay to report them just so that they would have it on record for any future problems.

Being a woman, and a single mother, I am not what you would call "car saavy". However, I have worked in the auto industry in the past as a product specialist, and am technologically saavy enough in the basics. Well, this car was not basic at all! It started when it arrived. It was missing an antenna, which I did call them to complain about,  after I bought a new one. It had more scratched than what they detailed in the ad, and I had to hire someone to repair them, which they did agree to pay for because it was only about $60. Well, I wish that was all, but not even close!! They had not told me that it had a new transmission in it that had been placed 1 month prior to my urchase of it. I would presume from all of the problems I ended up having with it, that it was a rebuilt transmission with high miles. It also made horrible noises from the start which I tried to ignore and hoped would go away. I wanted to LOVE this car. Well, the horrible noise ended up being the 2 strut mount towers. I took it in to BMW and the asked me who had sold me such a car!! They said it was not safe to drive, as it also had a cracked valve housing, and the front was out of line as if it had been pieced back together. I then took the car to my own mechanic and replaced the towers at the tune of $800. I had to buy 4 new tires as they also didn't let me know the tires were bald, and were about 5 years old per my other mechanic who sells tires and looked them up. So, I shell out another $400.

The worst of the worst is next. Back to the transmission, well, it started to hesitate in higher gears. It is an auto CVT transimission and past 45mph was stalling in shifting up. I take it back into BMW and pay $125 for a diagnostic test when they break the news that it needs a new transmission! They said it would be about $6-$7000!! I was hysterical. I hadn't even had the car 10 months. I called John at OC Auto Brokers. Though he was understanding, and sent me a reciept that the transmisson he didn't tell me about, was still under warranty, it didn't fix the issue. Not to say the least. I had to make numerous calls to the company they purchased the transmission from, and was told that I would need to ship the transmission to them, pay for shipping, and they would inspect it. If they deemed it bad, they would send a new one, and pay for labor and shipping. But...this would take almost 8 weeks and in the meantime I would be without a car! Oh, did I also mention the car needed suspension work too? The BMW technicians found that out, and it also had an airbag sensor that stayed on. I never even thought about this when the car arrived. It had been on, and I just never honestly noticed it being something important. How wrong I was!

I will NEVER recommend this company to anyone. I have shed numerous tears over this, have lost countless hours of sleep, been affected at my job, and even my time with my son. It has been the worst experience of my life!!! I ended up taking the car into a dealership yesterday and just trading it in. I lost around $5000 in the transaction and am sick about it. However, at least I now have a brand new car with a warranty, from a local and reputable dealer!

PLEASE listen to me and NEVER buy from these people!! I don't care how nice they are on the phone, or how "great" thier eBay scores might be. I am sure many people wrote those positive feedback comments prior to having waited enough time to truly know the nightmare of a car they would end up with!

Final Response

AUTHOR: Nikegal - ()

POSTED: Monday, September 16, 2013

Moses, this car had a replaced transmission from the start. It wasn't 11 months later. I never would have bought it if you had disclosed all of the facts. I kept making repairs from the start because I did want to love this car! The secondhand transmission failing was just the last straw for me. It was a sharp looking vehicle from the outside. And, I wanted to believe in you guys. John had been easy to work with and I really wanted this to be a good experience for all parties.

Anyway, I've spent far too many hours on this issue, and want to put it behind me for the sake of my life and the quality time with my little boy. I am happy to speak to anyone that cares to call me about you, or provide any facts needed as I have kept excellent records. I shall not be responding to anymore of these "rebuttals", and I do hope everyone has learned from this experience. I know I have.

It's not Water Under the Bridge!

AUTHOR: Moses A. - ()

POSTED: Monday, September 16, 2013

It's not water under the bridge for me. It bothers me because We did everything right for the consumer. Unreasonable demands is just that...UNREASONABLE after 11 months of car ownership.

OC PROFESSIONAL AUTO BROKERS is NOT Obligated to pay for a car that has been in the owners possesion for 11 months! It's considered normal wear and tear. We addressed the Transmission issue providing her with the correct receipts and warranty on it. We did everything possible to assist in getting her car repaired. Being the car was out of state we could only do so much.

One saying comes into mind though when buying things sight unseen. "Caveat De Emptor".

It's done and gone...

AUTHOR: Nikegal - ()

POSTED: Thursday, September 12, 2013

Thanks to whomever you are for taking the time to add your comments. At this point, it is all "water under the bridge". The car is gone, thankfully. And, no one "is demandng anything 11 months after the fact". A simple acknowledgement that the dealer did not reveal all of the facts in thier ad listing (like the replaced transmission, among several other things) would have sufficed. My local BMW dealership who looked at the car within 1 1/2 months of purchase are the ones who asked me "who sold me such a car"! I guess I just wanted to believe that I really hadn't made a such a poor financial decision. I am very much a person of integrity. I have always told the truth in my eBay transactions, and just anything I do in life. It really doesn't make sense not to. I have learned, unfortunately, that everyone is not the same. Oh, and calling people "idiots and stupid" just lowers a person's own IQ level.

Anyway, it's done! Future buyers will be more aware and better prepared!!

A time limit...

AUTHOR: Tyg - ()

It is unfortunate that you have had to deal with these issues, however the owner is correct. 11 months after the fact they will not help you. There was a 30day warrenty on it. Thats it. I know for a fact that they would have asked you if you wanted the exstended warrenty, every used car I have ever purchased from a dealer asks the same thing. Normally, the stupid ones, just say no and give it no further thought. Smart buyers tend to accept warrenties as part and parcel of thier purchase. A warrenty doesnt cover everthing but it can make life easier when one of these problem arise.

The owner is right, 11 months AFTER your warrenty has expired you demand these ppl do something for you. They cant. And by law they dont have to. They did EVERYTHING legally required of them. 11 months after the fact is just you trying to find someone else to pay for your problem. Stop being a child and act like a adult.

This is not a REAL ripoff report. This consumer got exactly what she paid for. This is a self entitled idjit who is looking for someone else to pay for a problem they have to pay for. It is neither a scam nor a ripoff just someone who has a problem and is looking for someone else to take responsability for thier problem.

The Facts Speak for Themselves

AUTHOR: Nikegal - ()

POSTED: Wednesday, September 11, 2013

At this point, it really doesn't matter what Orange County Auto Brokers has to say. The facts speak for themselves. If they were so honest and they cared so much about thier eBay reputation, they should have let it be known in thier eBay ad that this car had a replaced transmission (that would not be easy to return accross the country), old tires, a cracked valve housing, a faulty airbag sensor, suspension issues, etc. I never would have given it a second look! Granted, the car had high miles, however, Minis can go 200+ with proper care. My goal is not to slander or hurt anyone. Believe me, this has been a nightmare and I simply want to make others aware so that hopefully they will not go through what I did. This is the 2nd car I have purchased on eBay. The first was a dream and I never had an issue with it. The sellers were located in Houston, TX. So, this is not my first time buying sight unseen. I guess like others, I trusted thier 100% feedback. It is a shame that ebay only lets you leave feedback for a limited time (I believe it is 45 days). Well, a lot can happen after that, but, most of these issues also were within the 45 days. I should have just filed a complaint early on, contacted the BBB and the State of California who handles the Lemon Law. I don't have deep pockets, and I spent much of my money on this car. I really did want to believe it was a good choice and that I hadn't been fooled. I was wrong.

Lastly, who are "the Gangsters"? This is just a ridiculous statetment to try and hide the facts of this nightmare and put the blame on someone else. Orange County Auto Brokers needs to take ownership for this, and not try to mask it with ludicrous verbiage. Accept reponsibility and be professional.

Our Ebay Feedback of 100% Speaks for itself

AUTHOR: Moses A. - ()

POSTED: Tuesday, September 10, 2013

First and Foremost..This report was only brought to us TODAY by another customer stating why this ONE and only negative report about Orange County Professional Auto Brokers has this negative review. The Customer was searching reviews about our business as they are about to purchase a vehicle through Ebay from us. So this issue was brought to our attention.

I Researched the history of this particular deal. I am here now as the Owner (Moses A.) of Orange County Professional Auto Brokers to tell our side of the story. As with any allegations there are two sides ror each story.

The Vehicle in question was purchased June 25, 2012 by Kathy Deringer a 2006 Mini Cooper Convertible with 97,478 actual miles. With any Used Vehicles that we sell, there is only a Limited Warranty. 30 Days or 1000 Miles (whichever comes first) and any mechanical work has to be done In-House in our shop. In this case it was not feasible since it was out of state. We are willing to work with the customer to address ANY and ALL issues if it was brought to us immediately. I know some issues will not surface right away. I understand this. Hence Why I try and work with all of our customers in resolving matters amicably. Now with that said...

 Dated: July 14th 2012

Ms. Kathy Deringer Emailed us regarding a some issues with the vehicle.

*"The front bottom bumper was loose and under the chassis in that area. He looked and realized it has a new trransmission. This of course is a good thing, But I would have liked to have known this."

*All of the fluids were low, especially the coolant. HE topped all of it.

*It leans to the left while driving. It will need alignment, but the 2 front tires had 10 pounds more pressure than necessary and the back 2 had less than manufacturer suggested. We filled them properly and it leans less to the left but will still need an alignment....

* There is no antenna...

* Driver door dent needs addressing....

Ms. Deringer only wanted us to pay $65.00 for Touch Up Paint and remove the scuff marks. Which we paid out with Check #6170. I would of gladly worked with her for whatever the cost to her mechanic if she just stated  in her Email. Again all issues that arises after the 30/1000 Warranty Period we are not responsible/liable. But I DO try and work with customers in addressing issues. Even after that 30 day mark within reason.

Now brings us to the current situation with the transmission, Strut mount towers, 4 tires. This was brought to our attention ONLY AFTER 11 MONTHS (Dated May 08, 2013) The Transmission is under warranty in which we provided her with the necessary paperwork to get it fixed through the original place we purchased it from (SSF European Parts Source) This is the same place BMW buys their parts for all customers vehicles! The 4 tires in question is a wear and tear part due to everyday use. No Dealer will cover that cost. ESPECIALLY after 11months into the vehicle ownership. If she had major concerns about the tires, she should of clearly stated she want us  to reimburse her for tires during the first 30 days/1000 mile warranty. I would of Gladly took care of whatever the cost was to replace the tires. Strut Mount towers falls under the same criteria as the tires. Again if all of this was brought up on any email stating she wanted us to replace or pay for any part within the warranty period. I would of took care of it. As my word is my bond to customers on making things right for them.

This is a USED car that was purchased. So it will need some Maintenance. We did our part when the Vehicle was in our possession to recondition it to be in perfect working order. (hence a $4689 Transmission Bill plus labor cost) paid for by us. What I'm trying to convey here is that I will stand behind any vehicle I sell but within REASON. If all these issue arose within the 30 day period then I would go ahead and eat the cost to fix it. No questions asked. Hekk I would of even did it 2 months down the road....BUT 11 MONTHS?!!!? come on!

What gets me is that in one of her emails..she made clear that she was going to "Work Diligently to make any and all people aware of your dealership..." To me, This the mantra of a gangster threatening someone to get their way. I did everything I needed to do make things right. But 11 months after the fact?  COME ON! It’s Ludicrous.
