Pena Eye Institute Consultation RIP OFF - Don't Go here and keep your money McAllen Texas

Dr. "Raulito" Pea also tried to charge me the $150 dollars for the supposedly "free" Lasik consultation.  I called in, waiting almost 10 minutes to speak to someone about setting up a Consult, I even asked the person I spoke to just to confirm it was "free", and she replied in a very Rude way that indeed it was.  I showed up to my consult and waiting for almost 20 minutes in an empty waiting area before I was called in to the back to do a quick exam.  Then back out to the waiting area for another 15 minutes then back in.  I was then dilated and sent out yet again to wait.  Finally I was sent in to see the Doctor, who was in fact not who I expected.  Dr. Flores was her name and while she was very friendly, I asked her if I would get to meet Dr. Pea, to which she replied no, not until the day of Surgery, which caught me off guard.  If I'm going to trust my eyes (the only two I have) I'm going to want to meet the Doctor.  I was then sent on to the financial counselor who wanted nothing more but to sell sell sell!  He kept trying to get me to run credit with him and to talk about getting my parents in that very day to pay cash $5000 for both eyes!  I felt extremely uncomfortable and proceeded to attempt to leave the office, to which the financial counselor gave me a bill for $150!!! Astounded I asked what this was for, to which he replied "... that is for the consultation fee... you didn't confirm lasik with us today, but if you do, that fee will go towards your lasik surgery"  I was furious and proceeded to tell the man that I specifically asked for the FREE consult!  To which he quickly replied "we don't offer free consultations for lasik" and with my astounded look he proceeded to try to collect the $150.  He stepped out for a few seconds to get a form from another office but by the time he returned I had pulled up Dr. Pea's website on my iPhone, and BOOM.  Front page top corner, and scattered throughout the website, "CALL NOW FOR YOUR FREE INTRA-LASIK CONSULTATION" I told the financial counselor, "I AM NOT PAYING FOR THIS! AND IF YOU CHARGE ME, I WILL REPORT YOU TO THE BOARD OF OPHTHALMOLOGY!" To which he stared at me with a blank look as I walked out of the office. 

Ben, it is hard to believe you are a real customer and not one of Dr. Pena's employees.  No one talks like you.  If you were a real person you would say how much it cost and not say "Honestly there was noting out of my budget and was reasoable compared to all the other...". Save your praise for the "Raulito's" eye brochure.  You also excluded San Antonio from your comments.  My wife went to a San Antonio eye doctor and her visit was truely free (no hidden $150 cost because you're "qualified").

Before i did my procedure with Dr. Pena i did my research and i went to all the lasik doctors in mcallen and houston. I decided to go with Dr. Pena because from the moment i called to make an appointment i was guided step by step during my free consultation. They did clearly explained to me the fees thatare applicable if i decided to move forward. Honestly there was nothing out of my budget and was resonable compared to all the other doctors i had visited before. I am happy with my surgery and i had a great experience and i will totally recommend Dr. Pena to anyone.
