ProMag Energy Group A/C and Heating Inc BUYER BEWARE! WILL TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE DISABLED AND ELDERLY! Cocoa Florida

We called ProMag to check a water leak in the PVC pipe.  That was the only problem we were having with our system. After going over the system the technician told us we needed a whole new a/c system. Said it was clogged with mold. Our a/c was only 8 yrs old.  Then he wanted to finance it through a company ProMag works with but wasn't upfront about the interest rates or who the company was.  I realized they wanted 27% interest and that it was a credit card company I never heard of.  I looked up their number online and realized that the BBB has had issues with ProMag.  I called them and cancelled the credit app and the appt we had made.  The person who answered the phone didn't ask any questions as to who we were or address, phone number, nothing. But said he'd cancel the application.  I had a funny feeling about the call and didn't believe he would do what he said.  Fortunately, I called back again an hour later and spoke with the receptionist who did take down our personal information and said she would cancel it.  Apparently, ProMag has a reputation for selling you services and equipment you don't need and can't afford.  I'm only guessing here, but I suppose they would have taken our system out and would then re-sell it to someone else since there was nothing wrong with it. What I find amazing is how cool and unassuming the technician appeared to be, as if you could trust him.  He didn't bat an eyelash when he saw that we are elderly and disabled.  He just said we needed a new system.  After cancelling the appt., I called a reputable, honest company for a 2nd opinion.  They could have said, yes, you need a new system but we'll do it cheaper.  Instead they were honest and told us our system was in good shape, only 8 yrs old, and it just needs to be cleaned.  The ProMag technician didn't even offer to clean the handler in the 2 hours he was at the house.  I feel fortunate that we weren't taken in by this company but realize how close we came!
