I purchased a Weimaraner puppy from puppyfind.com in December 2004. The so-called "breeder" is Bill Bartman aka customsaddles@aol.com. He is not a breeder. He is a broker. I believe this site to be a puppy mill site.

I have emailed the local news channels (channel 7 on your side)in hopes of them picking up my story but have not heard back from any as of yet. I even tried to contact a Tulsa Oklahoma news channel to help.

My puppy was genetically sick. I spent $500.00 dollars to buy him and another $165.oo to ship him to me. He lived for only months. I spent another $3000.00 + and 3 Vets later to keep him alive. The vets & myself needed some information regarding the rest of the litter or the puppy's parents and Bill Bartman would never return my phone calls to help. He is insisting that he doesn't know me. He knows me and I have the paperwork to prove it. I have the airbill with his name on it and my charge card info.

My puppy died this past May after many vet bills and medication. He was a beautiful puppy and I am sick over this mess. Please people, do not buy any puppies from puppyfind.com or you too will be sorry.

I have tried to contact as many officials as I could in Oklahoma. Every one was a dead end for me. From what the Sherrifs Dept. and Humane Society told me this guy is known as a con-artist in Tulsa Oklahoma. He was an owner of a Credit Company that buys bad accounts. It has since gone bankrupt and he got off free while his partners ended up in court and/or possibly jail.

I have tried to contact the Vet listed on the Airbill and he too denied knowing anything about Weimaraner puppies. The whole bunch of them are liars. And I have no way of getting any of my money back or a replacement puppy. I am out $4000.00. I am making monthly payments and will be for a long time. This has ruined my credit history. I am single and have no way of catching up on the bills I had let go in order to try to get my puppy well.

I have filed a complaint with the Better Business Beaureu. They have not heard back from Bill Bartman.

The AKC registered papers Bill Bartman faxed me were no good. They were ficticious and listed a breeder who doesn't exist. The add listed Bill Bartman as the breeder until the AKC papers arrived which listed these unknown persons.

I have all my paper work/bills to prove these allegations.

My puppy didn't have a chance at a normal life.

If there is anyone out there that can help, please do so. I will not stop until I am sure that these people/internet site are stopped.

Puppyfind.com helps Bill Bartmann continue to ripoff people

My husband and I recently purchased a puppy over the internet using a website called Puppyfind.com. We searched thru the ads for Great Dane puppies and when my husband got to the one about Buster he liked the sound of it and loved the picture and so he proceeded to contact a Bill Bartmann of 2196 N 190 Rd., PO Box 167, Mounds, OK 74047, phone number: 918-830-1626. They spoke at length about Buster. My husband was told what a cool puppy he was, how he was being raised with Mr. Bartmanns 18 month old child, how healthy and happy he was, and how he loved to snuggle, and that he was up to date in all his shots, and was wormed. He was also told we would receive a health certificate, AKC paperwork, and proof of all shots the puppy had received. The only thing I can say that was received at Logan Airport in Boston on Feb 23, 2006 was one very sick little puppy. How this puppy even was allowed to travel is beyond our belief. It was clear from the paperwork that it DID NOT MATCH THIS PUPPY!! So how then, was this puppy allowed on a plane?? My husband and daughter arrived home here in NH about midnight with Buster and we were calling the vets by 9am the next morning because it was very apparent that Buster was very ill, as well as having a broken toe, which appears not to have healed properly.

We also realized that NONE of the paperwork we received was worth a ****. The health certificate was signed by a vet yet described a dog 8lbs heavier than Buster The shot records were forged, they actually belong to a female dog. There was NO AKC paperwork included in any of the paperwork. As of 4/17/06 we received paperwork to register our puppy with ACA which I am unfamiliar with(Others I've spoken with have said they believe ACA is a "lesser" organization compared to AKC). We had been told this puppy was AKC registered.

We had no choice but to leave Buster in the hands of our vet where he remained for 7 days. I can and will provide any and all information concerning Buster's stay at the vets as well as providing copies of the shoddy paperwork we have received and a letter from our vet also sharing the opinion that this puppy was too sick to have been shipped when he was.

At this point we have spent upwards of $2,500 (cost of puppy and all vet bills to make it the healthy puppy we were told we were buying) trying to make this puppy well.

When I first contacted Mr. Bartmann, I was told by an individual named Tyler" who was answering Bartmann's email that Bill was out of town for the next week. The next morning I called the vet and was disgusted at how I was treated by them. They refused to send me any paperwork about this puppies vaccines, though I have paperwork with the vets signature on them. YET the female speaking from the vet stated this puppy had not actually been seen by the vet. I was told by this same female that our dog had never had ANY vaccinations. This vets name is Gary W. Bynum DVM of 6250 Hwy 16, Beggs, OK 74421. Phone: 918-267-4393 YET, only minutes later when I succeeded in getting Mr Bartmann on the phone he assured me it was all just a mix up of paperwork and he would email me proof of Busters shots etc. I have yet to receive a thing.(its now 4/17 and still no valid shot records have been received.)

I appealed to PAYPAL which is how the puppy was paid for yet I'm still awaiting word if they can offer any help.

WHAT THIS MAN IS DOING IS WRONG!!!! I have posted this story in many places on the internet and in just a short time I have been contacted by 2 others whom have had unsuccessful dealings with Mr. Bartmann. I continue to find and collect more and more evidence that this man operates a puppymill. Im disgusted and ashamed that my husband and I were so naive. We feel responsible for this puppy now, which is more than I can say for Mr. Bartmann.

We need help. This man needs to be stopped. PLEASE HELP US!!! Please feel free to contact me if you need any other information. As of 4/17/06 I have been contacted by WMUR of Manchester NH and also a station in Tulsa OK who are both interested in hearing this story. "Buster" is now approx 14 wks old, weighs approx 50 lbs, and is doing very well. We are still paying the bill for his week long stay in isolation at the vets however. I told Mr Bartmann today when I last spoke with him that we agreed to pay $820 for the puppy including shipping. We want him to reimburse us the $1640 we paid to keep this poor creature alive. Its not like we ever really had a choice once this living, breathing creature was with us. Its not like we could have just shipped this puppy back, he would have died. If the airlines were paying attention to their own rules perhaps this puppy never would have been allowed to be shipped. Needless to say, our conversation ended with Mr. Bill Bartmann not agreeing to pay the vet bill.

It also came to our attention that the picture we fell in love with thinking it was Buster was also being used to sell a female puppy!! How unfair to make people think the pictures are the actual pet you receive.!!! This man continues to list puppies but changes the contact people names. In the last month the name has changed a few times but the phone number remains the same.

I amend this post yet again as of 4/21/06. I got a phone call from a breeder in Oklahoma who has been trying to assist me with information etc. She researched the name that was on the ACA paperwork we just recently received. Mr Bartmann portrayed himself as the breeder but in fact another person was. I have been in contact with this person as well and she tells me Mr. Bartmann bought 6 puppies from her under false pretenses ( he told her he ran a camp for underprivledged foster children) and so she sold these puppies to him at great discount. This man is a theif, a liar and a FRAUD!!!!

Puppy find continues to let these people sell dogs from their site. They change their name slightly and change the name of the contact person, however the phone number has continued to be the same. They can also remove the negative comments from their account SO WHAT GOOD DOES HAVING THAT OPTION ON THE SITE DO? It enables the disreputable sellers to continue ripping off innocent people!!!

puppyfind.com is responsible for ripoffs

Puppyfind.com is profit driven and does not screen posts. 50% or more of their ads are scams, and knowing this, the puppyfind.com staff does nothing about it. They are slow to remove fraudulent pics of puppys. They do not respond to complaints by consumers tired of being ripped off.

Reputable breeders are now avoiding puppyfind.com because they don't wish to associate with a site that allows for brokers and puppymills to do more damage for profit at the expense of death and suffering of dogs. Not to mention that any potential consumer has more of a chance of being ripped off than finding a reputable breeder should be reason enough for you, as a reputable breeder, to stop dealing with such an awful website.

I wish the best for the person that, unfortunately, went through this terrible experience. Please continue to share your story with others to help even one person avoid going down the terrible road you did. try contacting the atterny general. in there state that might help. i dont know for shure but it might.

but dont blame puppyfind becuase i sell on there and i would never sell sick dogs

I am a very reputable collie breeder and there are many reputable breeders that advertise on this site. We are all very sympathetic to you because of your situation and are very sorry for the loss of your beloved puppy, however as a consumer you must know who you are dealing with even over the internet. You need to ask all the right questions like how long have you been breeding dogs? They must be knowledgeable about their breed. Pup should always come with a vet health check, shot record and a call to the vet prior to buying the pup is encouraged most good vets are happy to report to new owners. If the breeder is asking you no questions except how he/she is going to get their money run as fast as you can. If you don't buy from a Puppy mill they will go out of business. Good breeders despise puppymills and only search for good quality homes for their puppies. Also I am always skeptical of breeders who breed more than one type of dog. I hope this helps and offers at least a little good advice to those of you who will be looking for a good healthy,happy genetically sound puppy regardless of the breed.

A lot of states allow puppy mills

Where is this gentlemen located?
A lot of states allow puppy mills, that being a breeder that has more than 3 littes per year. HOWEVER, they have to get a liscence from the state.

So, you contact the stape department of agriculture with this persons name, you will get his phone number and address, and can then sue him, provided it was in the contract that this was healthy puppy.

This is a lesson about Puppy Mills. You need to mete and know the person you purchase a dog from. Anything else, pet store,s over the internet (did that seem safe in the first place) are puppy mills dogs, meaning genetically weak and usually do not live long, if at all.
