On July 2nd of 2008, after being off for two days, I was called into the office of Joe Gallegos, General Manager of the Radisson Hotel in Lubbock Texas. I had only been there two months and had received a raise on June 16th that was retro back to June 1st of 2008.

Joe, in front of two witnesses, Libby DeShazo and Tony (the Restaurant manager) gave me an ultimatum. He said he would fire me immediatly or I was to voluntarily resign right then. His reason was for an email that made it to Radisson. I had no choice but to save my reputation as an HR major in College and take the voluntary resignation. He followed me to my office to get my things and I left the building professionally.

I filed for unemployment and today I am informed that Libby, Tony and Joe signed statements in regards to my resignation, however, they were false and have perjured themselves. These statements are causing my unemployment compensation to be denied. Their statements say that I was given a a two week suspension for two complaints received from guests and for training issues at the front desk. This is totally untrue and perjury has been committed to a Federal entity! Besides, the complaints that he is now referring to were dismissed by him in an email earlier in the month, stating "you can't please people like that." And that, "I did the right thing." I have those emails!

On the Friday prior to this happening, I questioned his unethical business practices. He put out a memo stating the front desk personel including the night auditor was to sign up each and every person on the Gold Points frequent stay program whether they gave us permission to or not. I told him we could not do that and notified the Radisson Inspector the following day. He informed me not to do that and I have that email.

On Tuesday, the day before he forced me to resign, he hired Paul, a former employee to take my place as Front Office Manager, before he ever spoke to me. He also fired one of my staff on that same day.

In the two months I was there he forced the General Manager to quit by demoting her to Director of Sales for no reason (and she was the one that hired me), fired two hotel Southwest Airlines desk customer service agents for no reason, fired the maintenance man that we had so many compliments on, forced the Director of Housekeeping and her assistants to quit by making work hard on them and throwing money in the floor stating, "this is what you are costing me."

This man has unethical business practices and should be removed from his position as General Manager before he ruins the Radisson name. I have been wronged and so has many other employees since July 2007.

Joe may be trying to save face but there are too many employees that were fired for no reason while at the Radisson. Although Libby DeShazo and Tony were present the day I was unjustly fired, they were not the cause of my dismissal. I was liked by everyone until the Radisson inspectors came in and called Joe down on all the wrongs in the hotel. From that point on he treated me differently. I was not there long enough to do damage to anything or anyone. I was not vindictive, nor ugly to anyone. My career is in hotels, why would I risk my own reputation by being vindictive? Libby DeShazo was a victim also, her name was placed on documents used against me in my request for unemployment compensation. She was forced to sit in on the dismissal, as was I when he would be mad and want to fire people for stupid reasons. He ruined lives. He has no business in the hospitality industry. I took many complaints from guests against Joe.


Joe appealed my unemployment until he won, forcing me pay back what I had received. Now that is low...he knew I had a disabled husband and firing me after two months of cleaning up the accounting mess, and training employees on the Opera system was uncalled for. Better yet, He actually lost  the unemployment case and then appealed again and won. I was unable to do anything at that point. If anyone was vindictive it was him. I only wish previous employees would come forward. I can name the victims that were ruined by Mr. Gallegos.


I would like to make sure everybody knows Libby DeShazo is not involved nor was she involved in the wrong doings. She was a victim like the rest of us.

Joe Gallegos has been lied about in the article Radisson Lubbock, this was an angry womenm who wrote this article, it has embarresed my my family and employeer, I have worked hard to be a good manager and respect all my employees, my employer has been a good owner, who has employeed staff to care for our guests, I worked hard to get us a Radisson Flag, we employee over 40 people, this artice does no one good, please remove this, as this is not right,and has hurt me and my family.

This artice on Joe Gallegos should be removed becasue this employee was unprofessinal in her job, she was rude to our guests, incited conflict among employees and managment alike
This article is vindictive in nature and totally false; it has damaged my professinal life and has caused embarrassment to my family and employeers.
