Register.com automatic renewal of domain names credit card fraud
*Consumer Comment: Sleazy even it it is in the Services Agreement
*UPDATE Employee: Another Person Who Needs to read Contracts
Register .com seems to think they can just renew your domain name and charge your credit card without your consent!! In addition if you try to dispute their use of your credit card..Good Luck reaching a human being.
I have made several calls to try and resolve the matter at my expense and have yet to reach a human.
Register.com was informed (by E-Mail) I did not intend to
renew my domain names, but they decided they would charge my card without my authorization anyway!! Think twice about doing business with them.

I know this is old - but they are still doing it:
I know this is an old report - however they still do it. They automatically enroll you in an autopay without clear notice. You have to call to remove the credit card information and/or autopay from teir system - you cannot do it online. They also do not send renewal notifications like other companies. Instead, they only send you one email when they charge your credit card. The ALSO renewed services on a credit card of mine that was EXPIRED. They did not have authorization at that point - but they did it anyway.
When I clicked on a renew button on their webiste for one of my SSL certificates - the next page had a continue button (And a hard to find "No Thanks" button) that would have billed me for an additional service that I most definately did not want.
Finally, I am trying to find an invoice to see what I actually get charged... Nope. The newest invoice in their system for me is from 2009. None of the 2012 invoices appear.
There are cheaper and better hosts than this. Go elsewhere.

In the services agreement you stated you agreed to when you purchased your domain names it states that by default for your convenience Safe Renew is enabled and that you the customer agree to this and that it's your responsibility to disable this feature if you do not wish to have this turned on. Also we have a 1-800 number so the only expense would be your time. Longest hold times are 8 minutes and those are on extremely bad days. I do not know how things were when you had names with them but I even have my name here. Please read a contract before you agree to it; a services agreement is a legal contract and by clicking the checkbox 'I Agree' it's just like putting your signature on it even if you don't read it.
