For the past year my wife and I have been looking into doing Solar on our home. We found an ad for Salt River Wind and Solar in a magazine and called them. The salesman who showed up looked like he just walked out of prison with tatoos from the neck down over his arms and god only knows where else. He went on and on about how "Great" Salt River Solar is to the point that we thought we were buying a new car. From the start he "LIED" about everything as we had already spoke with three other Solar Companys in Phoenix which all were about the same. He told us that we MUST sign today as APS was out of money and the rebate had gone from $3.00 a Watt to $1.95 per watt but if we signed today with a 5K "CASH" deposit. I told him I did not walk around with that kind of money in my pocket and then he said that he would follow us to the our bank to get it!And then he said he could pull some strings to get us in at $2.15 a watt. We called APS and was told that was "NOT TRUE" what so ever! My wife and I could not get this Scumbag out of our house fast enough! Whatever you do, Stay as far away from this company they are liars and cheats. I also found out from a friend that he had a problem with Salt River Solar last year with an Install that took almost 8 months to do. "BEWARE" this company has fraud written all over them.

In the End all is Well

Salt River Solar did finish the project and all rebates properly applied and i was very satisfied with the quality of the installation , the installers and the panels were Sharp brand as agreed; However, due to the level of stress from the company's lack of communication and proper scheduling i would still suggest going with another installer. Get some bids...all companies hate to give bids and not sign you up at the same time. Then go with a company you have seen around....as in the end i think they all charge about the same, and the rebates are the same for all. Solar is great, we love our system and would do it again. Get a list and pick three for estimates, or find a house with solar installed and ask. Most homeowners are happy to discuss their system.

i found that mike fricker did alot of unethical behavior to me

It's a very big surprise to see that you wrote all the things touting your sterling  reputation as the majority owner when you stated on the BBB website  on a reply to my negative customer review on 2/22/12  which anybody can read on the bbb website your intent to stop working on my project & send me separation papers etc. to sign. In other words  tried to make me think you had the power to breach the 20 yr. solar legally binding agreement that both parties signed on 11/23/11. Even though the contract states no changes cannot be made unless signed & agreed by both parties. And then later you sent me an email stating that you would be happy to do my project if I would pay the aps rebate  if aps refused to pay since my system was over the 125% connective load that aps approves which would   of double the cost of the system & the amt. would of been 9165. And by the way that was never in the 20 yrs. solar lease legally biding agreement. All of this shows unethical & deplorable business practices that were done to me by Mike Fricker. No wonder there is currently showing online that this co. is being alledgely sued for 4 million dollars for fraudulent behavior  as of 11/11 & Mike Fricker's name appears in the article.

at their mercy...

AUTHOR: aquaman - (USA)

POSTED: Friday, December 17, 2010

i am a customer of salt river solar and have waited patiently for 5 months now since permit was issued for them to do the instalation as promised (in 3-5 weeks). Like i said , it has been 5 months.

I do not know why anyone would want to hire this company to do the work , even if i do not end up getting ripped -off . Seems to me if anyone is looking to hire a solar contractor there must be better options out there than to wait 9 plus months to get a sytem up and running. They did come yesterday and install the panels but i am still not up and running since making my first payment ( and two more since)back in May 5th 2010.  (all solar contractors price  services in the same range, due to the rebates). I even took up Mike Fricker, the president of this company Salt River Solar and Wind, on his offer of calling him to have him set the record straight and not only did he not return my call, but he has not responded to my certified mail ether. Save yourself the grief, because they have no customer service dept. Or be prepaired to wait, wait ,and wait with no updates...

for now ,i will keep everyone posted as to wether or not this system is finished by years end ( important because of rebates and tax credits) . If it is not , my road here may still be long and troublesome .No doubt I am at their mercy.

From the Owner

POSTED: Friday, September 10, 2010

Dear Consumers, We have had the unfortunate experience of having our reputation slandered through ripoffreport.com. This consumer advocate website allows consumers or anyone really, to report allegations against entities without supplying proof to substantiate their accusations. Im going to get right down to the meat and potatoes of this situation. Our company is far from perfect and I personally can admit that I have made many of my own mistakes.

But heres what separates us from everyone else:

We will always admit when weve made a mistake.

We will NEVER allow a customer to take a financial loss because we messed up.

We have taken financial losses to do the right thing and make our customers happy.

We will NOT tolerate our sales people to lie or try to scam a customer or potential customer.

We believe in our leadership traits and take them to heart.

o Loyalty o Integrity o Judgment o Enthusiasm o Dependability o Unselfishness o Decisiveness o Justice o Bearing o Endurance o Initiative o Courage o Knowledge o Tact

It is true that when you are at the top, or lead an industry, you tend to be the bigger target that others try to take down, or out of the game. But Salt River Solar & Wind remains strong. Our team of professionals works hard every day to bring you newer, smarter, and more affordable energy solutions.

Dont believe me? Call me personally, or better yet, pay me a visit. Then youll see what we are all about.

Very Sincerely, Mike Fricker General Manager/Owner

I am a customer of Salt River

AUTHOR: aquaman - (USA)

POSTED: Saturday, August 28, 2010

I have a question for rebuttal "goGreen"- what brand panels did you get? I have a Contract and have paid 3 of the 4 payments. I am being told they cannot secure the panels for me. I already have the permit. I am waiting for the install by Salt River and they tell me they don't have my panels and are having trouble securing my panels. My permit may expire before i get my panels installed. Or i may have to settle for a different brand of panel. So does a Honda cost more than a Chevy. What panels will i end up getting i wonder? I will keep everyone posted. Thx.

Salt River Solar and Wind Purchase

AUTHOR: go green - (United States of America)

POSTED: Tuesday, August 10, 2010

My family has actually purchased solar panels from this company. We researched them with the BBB and found that they had an A+ ranking which is higher than the competitors in Arizona. We checked them all out before we decided to purchase.

It has been a long road which was expected from all the reviews we have read about several Arizona based solar companies. (anywhere from 4 months to a year). It is extremely frustrating to wait for something you are paying for, but we have found that it often shakes out in the end.

Salt River Solar and Wind are currently installing our panels this week. It has taken 8 months, but most of that has been waiting on county to approve permits and such. It hasn't been because of the company piddling around. We only had one company based issue which was resolved to our satisfaction.

The workers have been great. They are always friendly and well-groomed. This is not a banking company where one would not expect to see a lavish display of tatoos. Besides if you peeked at the shoulders or ankles of many bank employees you would often see a tatoo. I just don't see tatoos as a problem. If the guy can do the work, is groomed, and dresses appropriately for the job, who cares if he has a tatoo or even a bunch of tatoos. These men work outside in the heat in jeans and t-shirts. I don't expect them to wear a business suit:-)

The APS rebates were reduced to $1.98 per watt just after we signed out agreement which was down from the $3.00 per watt we agreed to. APS sent us a notice in the mail. The company stood behind our original agreement, and we got the $3.00 per watt rebate.

We were never told that we had to put money down. It was just like purchasing a care - we had the option to do it. We decided not to and just took a loan for the total amount, which the company assisted us with.

We haven't come to the end of the road yet. We still have to wait for the county to do its last inspection, then APS to bring the new meter and hook it up. That may take another month, but does not have anything to do with Salt River Solar and Wind doing their job.

We are pleased with this company, and having done research on other solar companies have found that our wait has been nothing out of the ordinary for any company installing solar panels in Arizona. Most of the hold up is waiting for county permits.

If we build it, county will come --- and take it away. We had better wait for county to just issue permits even though it takes them some time:-)
