San Diego County Credit Union Not a big bank - yea right! San Diego California

San Diego County Credit Union says that they are not a big bank, but they act like one. On balance transfers you pay the normal 3% fee that most credit card companies charge. They offer 0% for 1 year. I understand that they will charge you if you add any purchases to the card during that period. Basically they will not allow you to pay the charge off prior to paying off the zero percent purchase. To avoid this, I changed our card numbers and stuck them in a drawer before writing the balance transfer check. I also made sure the balance was zero. I transferred $9700.00 on a balance transfer and they charged me a $242.50 fee. I was OK with this, but they charged interest on the $242.50. You can't pay it off early and are stuck with interest on this amount until the promotional balance is paid. I called and they were not any help. I spoke to Chad. After 58 minutes, Chad could not explain where the interest came from. He thought it was from the previous month. I explained that the balance was zero the month before and no interest was charged. I need a better bank.
