I went through the Dallas Schneider training acadamy in March of 06.

To complete this schooling I had to sign a contract stating I would work for the company for one year or repay the fee of $3500 with tax. Fair enough.

Upon starting orientation we were given the chance to "opt out" of their per diem program. I signed two forms before leaving the STA. They were both "lost" putting me on the per diem even though I did not want to be on it.

I point blank asked them if their was a monthly max on the amount of per diem you can draw each month and was told "absolutely not"

I was also told how great Schneider maintanence was.

Upon graduation from the acadamy I was placed with a local driver even though I would be running over the road. I did 9 days with him and even though I learned a lot, had no clue about even the basic operation of the Qualcomm, scaling loads, even fueling at a truck stop. I voiced my concerns and was basically told to shut up.

The day after passing my CDL driving test I was put on a bus to Dallas, TX to pick up my truck. When I arrived I found out it was a Kenworth T-2000 a truck that drove totally different than the Freightliner I'd been trained to drive. I asked for half a day with an instructor in it to get used to it and was basically told to shut up and drive.

It took me over a month to learn to drive it, to the point of calling safety and telling them I still wasn't comfortable and needed some instructor time in it, they again, basically told me to shut up and drive.

Due to the age of that truck it was traded and I got a maintanence nightmare Freightliner. The problems with it started at Day one. Repeated trips to the shop for a "loose" fifth wheel, alignment so bad that at the end of the day my arms hurt from holding it on the road, to my A/C going out in Laredo, TX and being made to drive 570 miles to Elpaso to get it fixed.

On a few occaisons they would change the city of a customer so as to pay less miles for certain runs.

The reason I left is that after being forced onto the per diem program and being told that it DIDN'T have a max, I maxed out on it, and the computer defaulted me back to my base rate of pay per mile and tried to compensate for the small amount of taxes taken by the per diem program, resulting in the loss of 60% of one of my checks to taxes. I didn't know at the time how serious all the safety violations were.

They've since claimed they over paid me on my final check (140 gross) by 161 dollars and they want repayment. I've only received one phone call and one letter about tuition, they will not see a dime of it.

So all in all go to SNC if you want to be lied to, be put in an unsafe working environment, and ignored when you have major problems.

Sean and Robert are SNI toadies!

AUTHOR: Ken Jr - (United States of America)

POSTED: Sunday, August 26, 2012

Schneider has its toadie employees who have been told to monitor this website and post glowing testimonials as to how great it is to make the Schitter Family in Green Bay filthy rich while you earn so little pay your forced into the class of the working poor.

90% of drivers working for this scammer outfit are working poor that is how crummy Schitter National treats its employees.  Now i am sure a n**i SA Brownshirt OSR who has nothing better to do then monitor this website during his lunch break well come on here saying how great it is to work for a multi billion dollar outfit that refuses to offer a pension plan and even goes so far as to strip u of your medical benefits when u retire cause the 1%'ers running this joke outfit don't care in the least about the drivers.

Also on a lighter note Schitter National likes to dress their employees up in n**i Regalia with the OSR's wearing n**i SA Brown and the training engineers wearing Gestapo Black.  lol.

I suggest that the executives should wear Waffen SS Gray to complete the trifecta as SNI is a fascist outfit that craps all over its employees so think twice before u get mixed up with bum outfit.

Another side...

AUTHOR: Robert - (USA)

As a former driver of Schneider I find Dusty's story to be one of many Ive heard over the years from people who would, have & will always find a reason for complaining. Thats not to say that driving for Schneider is not difficult, but Id say out of the 5 other trucking companies that I have worked for, Schneider is hands down the most safety compliant. Almost to the point of being a pain the backside.

Long haul truck driving is a very difficult job & while I wont go into the details, my experience with Schneider was that they made many efforts to insure my safety & comfort. I drove for 5 consecutive years (2001-2007) & if I decide to return to driving, Schneider is the 1st company I will call.

If I were to list my complaints they would be, there are no dogs allowed, some of their older trailers need to simply be replaced, I got tired of driving in the same region of the country & Id like more home time.
But if you are a new driver, Schneider is the way to go. More support. More terminals. And Good equipment other than the older trailers.

Ex Employee speaks out

AUTHOR: Christopher - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, October 01, 2009

Schneider is one of the worst companies I have ever worked for. They paint a pretty picture of the company when you think about going to work for them. They give you Schneider approved footwear, and pay for 2 meals a day when your are in orientation. I ran the majority of the time out of the West Memphis OC. They have told nothing but lies just to get you in the door. The government gives them $2500 every time a potential employee comes to work for them regardless if you finish orientation or not. If other truck drivers would see what kind of company they are they will stay clear of these guys. I bought the Schneider apparel at each of the OC's I have been too. The pier diem is a joke they get the tax credit for you being on the pier diem program. Before I quit I lost my medical and dental coverage. I was not able to afford coverage.

I cannot stress enough on how pathetic this company is. I hope and pray no one goes through what I went through with SNC.

KW's At Schneider

AUTHOR: Kay - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, January 24, 2007

I beg to differ Sean, when I was with my Training Engineer, I rode for two weeks in a white Schneider Kenworth T-2000 just as Dusty described. My TE ran the Spartech account, and at that time, Spartech ran the Kenworths. Now they are Freightliners, but there are still Kenworth trucks in the Schneider fleet.

Dusty isn't the only person who had problems due to the Per Diem at SNI. Many people signed the forms to "Opt out" of the program, only to find that they ended up in the program anyway. I was smart enough to ask my CPA about the Per Diem program, and told to opt out, because it was set up to benefit Schneider more than the drivers.

If you are going to call someone a liar, make sure YOU know what you are talking about first.

#3 UPDATE Employee

driver associate

AUTHOR: Dan - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, October 09, 2006

Sean i am afraid that you are incorrect. Schneider does in fact own KW's and several of them. Freightliners are their majority but Schneider does own internationals, KWs, Petes so i guess you dont know what your talking about. As a driver for Schneider i can personally back Dusty on the claims he has made because i have been through the same experiences he has. I would like to believe that Schneider is a great company but i can only judge by my observations and experiences. I hope Schneider does come through because I am under thier school contract for another 6 months. Dustys claims may sound a bit out there but they are just about the same as mine are so heres another person atestinf the same thing.

You obviously do not know what a per diem is and Schneider doesn't own any KW T2000's.

#1 Consumer Suggestion

"Basically What?"

AUTHOR: Douglas - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, August 13, 2006

Dusty...

I'm curious, how did they "basically" tell you to shut up???

When you are driving a truck, you are in the left seat. You are the pilot-in-command! If, in your opinion the truck is unsafe then YOU communicate with them the issue.

If your dispatcher stonewalls you, you go over their head! If any dispatcher, driver trainer or terminal personel wants you to do something which YOU feel is unsafe, illegal or unethical you go over their head even all the way to Wisc if needed.

You are the person on the scene and you are the one who knows what's going on, not somebody sitting in an office who's never been in a truck.

As far as the per diem issue is concerned, it sounds like either a failure to properly communicate or understand what per diem is and means.

Although I've never driven for SNC, there is no doubt in my mind it is a great company and there is no "basically" in that.
