I guess it could be said that if it sounds too good...it is. We really couldn't spare the money that the Grant People took, and yes, took, from us with the promise that they could find grants to help us expand and improve our business. I say took because they never held up to what they promised, and they can make promises one after another with no regard for the truth.

They called, and I was skeptical to say the least. They told us of all the business they had helped expand and improve. They even referenced the "Scooter Store" as a client. "And for a mere $3500, they could help us too be on our way to a grant", from all these large companies that are just dying to give away money to small business like ours.

Well, we did it. They got our check and assured us that the first installment of our grant would be to us in 30-60 days. Well, I am sure you won't be surprised to hear that didn't happen. Instead, they said that for another $17,000 we would be refered to companies that are eager to give to non-profits. Uh, we are not a non-profit, and they knew that. Why would they even ask us for money to apply to those sorts of companies?

We did wise up after many of thier calls, where by the way, they are as sweet as candy, personable and try to appear knowldgable. I think they even research your area before contacting you to give you a sense that they are familiar with your area. One lady even claimed to have worked for one of our customers. Yeah, right! We told them that if they couldn't keep thier promise after recieving $3500, what made them think that we believed they could keep any promise, especially when more money was involved? They still call once in a while with the same old lines...more money for us for more money FROM us! No thanks!

If they call, run, screaming from the phone. I feel they are dishonest and how they have got away with it for so long I guess reflects on the needs of the small business owner, simply trying to get by and stay in business. Frankly, I don't know how they can look in the mirror. I think the word that comes to mind is thieves. They just don't have the mask...yet!
