universal fidelity lp Legal successor of Hollywood Video Fraudulent Debt Collection Practices houston, Texas

Over the past 7 days, I've received three notices from Universal Fidelity LP (The legal successor of Hollywood Video) regarding outstanding video rental fees.  I had always paid my late fees at the time of my next rental.  My account is free and clear of all debt.  These claims add up to $86.45.  I will pursue further action upon this company as possible.

According to the Federal Trade Commission, Fair Debt Collection Practices Act
http://www.ftc.gov/os/statutes/fdcpajump.shtm  If you send the debt collector a letter stating that you dont owe any or all of the money, or asking for verification of the debt, that collector must stop contacting you. You have to send that letter within 30 days after you receive the validation notice. But a collector can begin contacting you again if it sends you written verification of the debt, like a copy of a bill for the amount you owe.

Report any problems you have with a debt collector to your state Attorney Generals office (www.naag.org) and the Federal Trade Commission (www.ftc.gov). Many states have their own debt collection laws that are different from the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
