I purchased 4 gift cards for 25$ each at my local grocery store. I was charged $3.95 a piece for them. The outside packaging CLEARLY states, "The funds on this card do not expire". The product is described as a "gift card" and of course I did not rip open the packages before I tucked them into my own personal cards and gave them to my employees. When my employees brought them back to me telling me they were expired I thought surely there had been an honest mistake. I was informed that the FUNDS do not expire - but the CARDS do. I was supposed to have known that the glossy picture of the product on the front of the package was a picture of the actual card inside! How is a consumer to know this from the outside packaging? The outside package does state that there is a $4.95 a month charge that begins one year from the date of purchase. Why did the cards expire well before this deadline? I was further informed that it would cost about $10 dollars a piece to "refund" the money. The outside packaging is misleading. If I would have known that the cards expired I would never have purchased them. I feel completely cheated by All Access Visa and embarrassed about my employees not being able to use their gifts.
