Witte seems to like to make your life miserable while employed with them and after you leave. Marilyn Barnes (Saftey Director) will do everything possible to send misleading information to DAC. For example you back into a tight dock and hit your cab extender...she reports to DAC that you jack knifed your truck. Now a jack knife on your DAC black balls you from getting a good job.
Witte Bros does refrigerated LTL and some of the locations a driver has to get into can be tough at best. A driver will from time to time hit something trying to but a 53' trailer into a 28' spot. Stuff happens. She reports to DAC if a driver has scratched a truck or trailer that the driver abused equipment.

As far as the .47 cents a mile you will make as a company driver. It's true!!!
After they compute unloading pay, stop pay, carry-in pay, and whatever else.
You start at .32, the rest is manual labor. After the first year you get a raise but your pay will actually decrease. Witte says you will make $52,000 your first year. Well thats true to unless you like to run the west coast they make you sign a waiver.

Lease drivers wow do they get ripped off. .92 cents a mile, but don't go over 31,250 in a quarter it'll cost you .10 a mile. Running 12000 miles a month could cost you $475 every 3 months multiply that by 4 and WOW your giving them $1900 a year for running your truck like a business. Name another industry where you get fined for doing your job. Oh yeah they say you can turn down loads so you don't go over your mileage.....not.

Witte has a contract with a comany that the driver is required to pull the freight off the trailer for free. The driver gets paid everywhere slse he/she goes to unload or load.

Why ...Why....why can't trucking companies be honest and fair? Make your money off your customers not your drivers.

ALL TRUCKING COMPANIES OR THE SAME, JUST A DIFFERENT NAME ON THE DOOR.

DAC, Lease & Truck Driving School

AUTHOR: Witte - ()

POSTED: Wednesday, August 20, 2014

I take offense to this because I am the one that submits the DACS and individuals should not speak if they do not know what they are talking about. I have submitted all termination records since 07/2009 and before that there was another individual that did this previous to me for five years. In which Marilyn Barnes did not have anything to do with what was put on the DAC (termination record) when a driver left our company. Marilyn has not worked for Witte since 2010. The only accidents that is put on a DAC is if it is a DOT reportable accident or over $1,000 so I do not know where anyone is coming up with saying that a scratched trailer or truck is put on the DAC (unless you ripped the trailer open or the side of the truck off).

As far as the school you are not going to find a better deal; you pay $500 up front, which comes with a one year commitment to drive for the company and the upfront cost if reimbursed to you within 120 days of you going solo. Any other school is going to take a few cents per mile that you drive for them to pay back the school and go after you if you do not fulfill your commitment that you have made to them. In which Witte does not take anything out of your settlement to pay the remainder of the school tuition off. The only way that you would owe anything to Witte is if you do not drive for the company for the year.

On the subject of Lease drivers as one of our drivers has already said "no one twisted your arm" or forced you to Lease a truck from Witte. Unlike several other companies that may make you lease a truck in order for you to drive for their company. For informational purposes Witte no longer has a lease program. So there for Witte is not like other companies. We listen to the drives and change things to make things easier for the driver and to benefit their pocket books. They are a very family oriented company and do care about each and every one of their employees.

Don't recall anyone twisting your arm

AUTHOR: Terry - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, March 29, 2010

I've been leased to Witte Brothers for 7 years. Nobody twisted my arm to lease to them or lease a truck from them. Everybody that calls into recruiting about a driver position is given a full description and requirements for the job. As far DAC reports that falls on communication between the companies and DAC. A DAC report is easy enough to challenge and correct if YOU TRUELY did not do the item reported. I find it funny how people want to blame others for there own sad little lives. Put your big girl panties on and get over it. And if all trucking companies are the same, maybe your in the wrong industry. Try beauty school or something.

And OLDSKOOLTRUCKER your right we are being INSOURCED just like everything else in this country. They bring in these drivers from around the world. They say the mexican drivers are unsafe.......well how about the drivers from other parts of the world who drive like idiots out here

#1 UPDATE EX-employee responds

Marylin Barnes

AUTHOR: Oldskooltrukr - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, June 14, 2009

She was safety director when I worked there in 2003 and her husband was an Owner-operator there also. What this person said is absolutey true about the company and safety dept. It seems Barnes has a thing for ruining former employees, she is very un-professional with her work.
Future drivers don't even get caught up in their Trucking School scam or you'll owe them forever. They tried scamming my g/f out of 500 bucks luckily she stopped payment on the check.
These people are like all of the rest of the trucking companies out there, DRIVEN BY GREED! The driver is always the one to suffer in terms of dollars with these bigger companies they are all the same. My advice to you would be find a smaller family company who cares about their employees who make them MONEY. These "turnstyle" type companies will hire anyone or anything to keep the wheels turning. You see it everyday, Goodbye American Trucker you have been outsourced by cheap foreign labor like the rest of America!
