Attended a weekday, midday event with colleagues & clients.  Although we requested the private dining room, we were told upon arrival that the room required a nonrefundable $100 deposit.  Although private rooms often have a deposit, standard practice is that this deposit is removed upon a minimum dollar amount spent.  Evidently not the case at Cafe Borgia.

On principal, we declined and opted to sit in the main dining room.  Tables were grouped together in the main dining area to accomodate our group of 20. Oddly, the tables (put end-to-end) were tables of varying sizes - some 4x4, others 2x2 - making for a bizarre seating arrangement.  It almost felt as if we were being admonished for our decision to sit in the main dining area.

The service for many at our table was subpar, with multiple requests for drink refills going unanswered, despite the restaurant being nearly empty (weekday afternoon).  Regardless, the wait staff was generously tipped both with standard gratuity plus several hundred dollars in cash.  Our total bill (before gratuity) exceeded $2000.

Be warned - based on who-knows-what - you may be treated differently than other guests.  When 2 from our group attempted to order a drink at the bar, they were refused, that is, unless they were willing to order more food.  Considering they had just paid $2000 for food and were literally stuffed, they only wanted a drink.  AFter explaining, they were again told no - and asked to order 2 more entrees.  Truly bizarre behavior from the "service" industry to attempt to strong-arm paying customers for more money.
