Due to the aftermath of Covid-19, hundreds of thousands of small businesses are gone forever. The home remodeling business has been hit the hardest due to the non-existent work force and limited building materials. 

But there’s another story that must be told because it’s responsible for destroying more small businesses than Covid-19. Angie’s List and Home Advisor are the main source of leads for small contractors and have been so for two decades. 

After Twitter, Amazon, google and Facebook changed their company policies concerning our 1st amendment and certain civil rights specifically for social media. Angie’s list and Home Advisor changed the exact same policies which protected consumers but left contractors unprotected. Overnight, small contractors could no longer defend themselves against Slander/defamation, false, fake and very damaging “so called” reviews which were now considered “opinions” and not “reviews” anymore. 

Angie’s List and Home Advisor now post any and all “opinions” regardless of its content which means the “so called” reviews could not be challenged or removed regardless of the facts. 

In simple terms, anyone at anytime could post a review of your company and destroy your reputation overnight. It doesn’t matter if they’re not your customer, ex girlfriend or an angry person wanting to harm your reputation, they could do it legally and Angie’s List and Home Advisor will now protect them and punish contractors if they tried to defend themselves or ask questions. 

Basically Angie’s list and Home Advisor started documenting contractors who complained and making list to position themselves if and when needed. Contractors started cancelling their contracts and the battle had begun. 

At this point, Angie’s list and Home Advisor are no longer proving leads to contractors for money. They are now lawyers representing and protecting their precious customers who do not pay any money? The contractors pay the bills and are charged heavily for these leads.
