George Merlin is a fixture in the Sarasota new construction market as an architect/designer, especially for waterfront projects. However, having hired him, I would advise you look elsewhere. It was a HUGE mistake!!!
He is not creative at all and I had to change his absolutely ridiculous floorploand several times because of obvious mistakes. Of course he charges YOU to correct HIS mistakes!! Then he gets his buddy the tructural engineer involved,(no you cannot hire your own), so he can bill you also for corrrecting the mistakes George made. Then he will include his various contacts in the other trades to review your plans, without your permission, who will also bill you or lien the property, of course there are probably kickbacks involved.
He brought nothing to the project except delays and unnecessarily high costs. There must be better choices in town.
