Hinckley Yacht Services Boatyard Overcharges Customer by Thousands, Ignores Calls for Resolution Stuart Florida

As a boat owner, I sought repair services from Hinckley Yacht Services and received a written estimate for the necessary work, which amounted to approximately $55,000. However, upon completion of the repairs, I was shocked to receive an invoice totaling approximately $120,000 – more than double the initial estimate. The boatyard did not communicate any changes, nor did they seek approval for additional costs during the repair process.

Despite my numerous attempts to contact the boatyard by phone and email to address this discrepancy and seek a resolution, they have remained unresponsive and have failed to provide any explanation for the increased charges. As a result, my boat is still in their possession, and I am unable to use it or have it released.

I am reaching out to your news outlet in the hope that your investigative journalism team can help shed light on this issue and potentially prevent other boat owners from falling victim to similar unfair business practices. This situation not only highlights the financial hardships faced by consumers who trust local businesses but also raises concerns about the lack of transparency and communication in the service industry.

I am willing to share all relevant documentation, including the original written estimate, the inflated invoice, and records of my attempts to contact the boatyard, to assist in your investigation. 

In addition to all of this I know of one other person at the boatyard who has similar issues and at least one recent ex employee who has full knowledge of what has transpired and has communicated to me that bills are inaccurate and padded.
