The hotel manager and staff were rude from the moment I checked in. I had hoped for a simple one-night stay-over on our way out of town. However, I was forced to stay longer due to a sick child. I know this is a budget chain, but there needs to be standards we adhere to even for working class people please. The first night, there are a group who gather right outside our balcony, cigarette smoking and playing loud music. The cigarette smoke is filling our room, even with the hotel door closed as there are enough air spaces that the smoke wafts right in. Ironically, the hotel gave us a notice upon check-in that we cannot smoke. Of course, we are complying. However, I make sure hotel management knows that there is loud noise, noxious smoke--and I make sure management knows we have a sick child who is finding it hard to breathe. I find a cockroach, and I make sure management knows this also. The next day, the hotel manager comes banging on my door and yells at us as he tries to swing it open and break the safety lock--that if we do not leave immediately, he will call the police. This is even though I had already paid for the night! The hotel manager then tells me that although I had paid to Booking.com for the night, that that's not their problem. They are cancelling my reservation and throwing me out. This is even though I have done absolutely nothing to be thrown out, and certainly to do this to a mother with a sick child is reprehensible. I am stunned. I ask for my money back. The hotel manager and staff all deny my request to get my money back for the night. Then they tell me I have to get out immediately, with my sick child or they repeat they are calling the police. They refuse to give me my money for that night returned, they do not even ask one question if we have another place to go. We are thrown out with a threat that we will go to jail, even though I'd already paid to stay at la Quinta for that night. I have stayed at hundreds of hotels throughout my life, as a professor, lawyer, student, businesswoman, as well as for leisure. Never before have I been treated so lowly as a person, or a non-person as part of a hotel stay. The hotel not only acted unethically--they put in danger an innocent, sick child and completely ran dereliction of duty. Finally, I have to say that the kitchen staff including Tonya has all the signs of meth use. I was an attorney with my own private practice for over ten years, and I have been had experience dealing with hundreds of people who use meth. I also saw her making a deal with someone in the kitchen room, a man who also bore all signs of serious meth addiction.

Consumers have the right to use a third-party provider

AUTHOR: APRIL - (United States)

POSTED: Wednesday, December 14, 2022

It is outrageous that to suggest that consumers should not  be able to use a third-party provider to book reservations, which we have the absolute right to do. Also, this incident had nothing to do with using a third-party provider. I had used a third-party provider for all the other nights of my stay at the hotel. The management is making this up as an excuse to steal money and throw mothers with their small, sick children onto the street. Unconscionable!

Cicumstances Would Have Been Different If You Would Have NOT Used a Third Party SCHLOCK Operation!

AUTHOR: Irv - (United States)

Why on earth did YOU not just pick up the phone and make YOUR OWN RESERVATION??? You don't need ANY of these GARBAGE THIRD PARTIES doing it for you! Nothing has ever changed. You make your own reservation. All of these third parties are nothing more than horse manure!

Three Questions

You paid for one night and you stayed for one night. You received just what you paid for. Why did you expect a refund? You left out key information.

Were you past the checkout time when the manager told you to leave?

Specifically, why were you kicked out?
