We hired this company to do remodeling at our house. We contracted for a particular start date and paid the deposit. Over the course of several months, we were continually asked for more money, but no work had been done. The start date came and went, with excuse after excuse from the owners as to why the work had not been started. Yet, they continued to ask for more money. They stated several times they used our deposit to pay their personal bills and didn't have money to order supplies for our remodel, which is why they needed more money. It came to the point we were filing a lawsuit when they finally caved and did the work. The work was rushed and while the majority of the work was satisfactory, over a course of a couple of days, small unsatisfactory things were noticed. They had cut our electricity to 4 of our outlets, it took another month for an electrician to come to the house. Still not fixed. 

We are not the only ones who are reporting this behavior. Other customers are reporting the same behavior; deposits paid, no work started, owners asking for more money, excuses being given by the owners as to why they can't finish the work. 

These people are scam artists, they are embezzling from their own company, breaching contracts, trying to change the contract in the middle of the job.
