Maistra Hotel Panorama Zagreb Certain information not Being Told Zagreb

The hotel is nice but dated.  The rooms are clean and quiet.  You will have a good night’s rest.  Breakfast is good and the workout facility is also good.  You have at least a 5 minute walk to the nearest public transit stop.  Personally I think this hotel should be a three or three and a half star hotel.  Though there are some things you need to know. 

Their website does not mention parking facilities.  I don’t know if the parking lot just south of the hotel is hotel or city parking.  I rented a car from SIXT.  The SIXT office is attached to the hotel.  I was told that if I rented from them, parking is free.  The SIXT employees told me this.  I was asked at the front desk if I had a car and I said yes thinking nothing of it.

I stayed at the hotel for 4 nights and when I checked out, I should have checked by bill because later I noticed that I was billed for parking 200 kn or approximately $40 CDN.  It felt like a rip-off because if someone had their own car and wanted to park there, they would have get a ticket and then go to a machine to pay for parking when they wanted to leave.  

Another thing you need to know is that just north of the hotel is Dom Sportova.  A popular sport arena in Zagreb.  On the third night I was driving back to the hotel about 6:30 p.m. and noticed heavy traffic.  I was stuck in a traffic jam.  There was an event at Dom Sportova.  All the parking lots were filled up, I had nowhere to park but fortunately I had relatives in town so I stayed with them for a few hours and then returned and was able to park.  This was after 11:00 p.m. 

The hotel obviously does not warn you of this when events happen.  Go to http://www.sportskiobjekti.hr/default.aspx and then click Kalendari dogaÄ‘anja.  You will see a chart and under Mjesto look for Dom Sportova.  Then look left at the date and work your schedule.  You are not told the time of the event just the day.  How nice of them.
