First mistake I made was coming here before I read the reviews. Second mistake I made was telling them which car I was interested in.

Third mistake was letting them lead the conversation and trapping me into a deal 20,000 more than I could afford. All the while telling me the car (2022 RAV4 LE priced online at 29,736) would be sold to me with all the accessories, etc for 39000 which would then later be tacked onto the pricing during the contract signing stage.

Fourth mistake I made was letting the finance manager summarize to me what I was signing instead of being given the complete contract to sign or allowed personal space to read the complete contract before I finished signing.

Last mistake was actually giving them the down payment even when I felt like it was too much and to just walk away. ALL in all, I would hope to reach as many people as possible to inform them of the shady business practices this business utilizes to deceive and blind consumers.

To clarify, yes I was given a hard copy of the complete contract AFTER I finished signing every section that was summarized to me. No, I was not allowed a final review to make sure everything looked okay before confirming the transaction. And No, the electronic contract I was signing was not an exact replica of the paper one I was given.

This leads me to suspect, such information was held purposely so I wouldnt find a reason to walk out. To me thats deceit but not illegal, I guess. My purpose for reporting is to spread the news of price gouging and deceptive tactics from this dealership. WItholding information is deception.

Misrepresenting information is deception. And taking advantage of someone's lack of knowledge regarding the auto industry is definitely sleazy and I do hope Karma works her way fast to anyone who blames the victim and not the institution.

Why are you getting defensive?

The purpose of my post is to inform unaware and incompetent buyers such as myself. Good for you that you already have that kind of negative perspective and attitude on the world and kudos for fully understanding EVERYTHING you've ever agreed to and check marked, whether it was the terms and conditions of an app or the new phone you set up.

Some of us fall for traps and scams the more sophisticated they become. This is for the people in the back who I doubt will check this site before getting conned by a dealership.

Hello,

The format of this site is kind of weird. I hope it posts correctly. Thanks for your references. I will look into these reports you've mentioned and will be contacting local news and radio to inform as many outlets as I can about my experience.

A Case of Buyer's Remorse

AUTHOR: coast - (United States)

POSTED: Saturday, August 20, 2022

"Fourth mistake I made was letting the finance manager summarize to me what I was signing instead of being given the complete contract to sign or allowed personal space to read the complete contract before I finished signing."

That is a contradictory statement. Either you weren’t given access to the contract or you didn’t take the time to read it. So, which is it? You wrote, "Inaccessible contract" in the subject line yet you later admit that you had the complete contract.

"I would hope to reach as many people as possible to inform them of the shady business practices this business utilizes to deceive and blind consumers."

Nothing in your report supports your claim of shady business practices or deception. Your failure to read the contract is totally your fault. Your dissatisfaction with the cost is a case of buyer's remorse.

Happy motoring!

Oh Poor, Poor Baby! Its ALL the Fault of the Big, Bad Car Dealer and YOU Had Absolutely No Responsibility, Right???

AUTHOR: Johnny Dollar - (United States)

At ANY POINT IN TIME you could have said "I'm NOT signing my name to anything until and unless I see, read and fully understand the contract. Instead...you played the role of suckered, doormat and chumps perfectly BY YOUR OWN ADMISSION.

What the hell is wrong with you? EVERYBODY KNOWS the Sleazy American Car Business is the most fraudulent, slimy, and deceptive sector of American retail. THAT IS AN ABSOLUTE FACT and yet you went along with it perfectly without batting an eyelash. Now you come here to seek sympathy!

They took advantage of you and worse yet, YOU ALLOWED THEM TO but it's all their fault, isn't it! JUST HOW SORRY DOES IT GET?

Most Toyota dealerships will target women...

AUTHOR: Karl - (United States)

and Hispanic customers in order to maximize profits on the sale by manipulating and deceiving them into believing that they are getting a “good deal”.

Feel free to type in 358430 at this site and read Mia2000’s Ripoff Report. (Ripoff Report #358430). She obviously understood what the employees were attempting to do, but they persisted in their attempt to manipulate her because targeting women is easier than targeting most men.

You can mail copies of your Ripoff Report to all of your Local TV News Stations and put it to the attention of “Investigative Reporter”. Also mail copies to your Attorney General.

Good luck to you!
