I have used Nationwide for pet insurance since 1996. I had insured 2 dogs and 8 Bunnies. In all thoes years I have had very small claims. On some of my pets I had no claims. I'm also a breeder of Golden Retriever Puppies. I have around 300 clients. I also belong to a few Golden Retriever Clubs with close to 20,000 members. I have email addresss to most of the members and I have reccommended  Nationwide for Pet Insurance. But no more.

My bad experience with Nationwide came a few weeks ago when I got a bill to renew my insurance on my pet Bunny Precious for $576.24. Precious turned 6 years old last April. I have never filed a claim on her until last April because she hurt her self. I woke up oe morning and she would not move. I could see she was in pain nor was she interested in eating.

I took her to vet in Lafayette and after looking at xrays the vet thought she may have broken a bone around her pelvis area. The vet suggested they put her down and I asked why and the answer was because she was in a lot of pain. I asked about pain medicine to see if that would help and they sold me medicine for pain. Also I drops.

She was on the pain medicine for about two months and she has healed her bone(s). She can get around just fine but rather slow. She eats real good now as well.

My preminum on Precious has been around $120 a year since 2015. Now their asking for this years priminum of $576.24. Thats outrages. I did file a claim when she broke her bone and it was I believe around $500.00. After the deductable they did pay me which I was glad.

But because of my history of insuring my pets with this company with very few claims. In fact I would say since 1996 I have not gotten more than $1,500 on all my pets including the one I filed last year on Precious.

My last bunny that died lived 11 years and I had her insured with Nationwide as well. I cant remember if I had ever filed a claim on her but if I did it would have been very small. I don't know if my policy with nationwide states they can raise my preminum. I expect companies to raise their rates a little each year but to raise it 475% seems a little bit hi.

A rabbit kept in a pen is an unhappy, despondent animal.

Yes, $576 is outrageous but not "outrages."

$120 increased to $576 is an increase of 380%, not 475%.
