Energy Drink Company, Proper Wild, Scams Partner Out Of Contract

Proper Wild is a compact, zingy, energy drink that is hitting the shelves quickly in convenience stores around the country. Rising in popularity and consumption, Proper Wild was a quick hit in the energy drink world. Similar to 5 Hour Energy, but full of more caffeine, Proper Wild is making a name for itself in the energy drink world. However, despite its popularity, at its core, its founders are not gifted in maintaining contracts. 

The startups’s former CMO stepped forward to share the true story of his experience working with them as a company. The entrepreneur and former Marine stepped in to help the company grow in their beginning stages offering thousands of dollars worth of website and online marketing. After a few meetings and set-ups, they offered him the role of CMO and even printed him business cards with the agreed title. As part of his deal, he was offered a pretty generous commission deal.

Eager to take the young company mainstream, he immediately set to work leveraging his relationships. Having a list of meetings with big retail stores like CVS, Longs, Walgreens and others, The former CMO tried his best to set this company up for success. Yet despite all of his efforts, Proper Wild did not take his work. They informed me that they didn’t like the offer and went with Hero brands to distribute their product. “That’s definitely their choice, but the deal was worse than what I had found them. I’m not sure why they insisted on going another direction.”

Despite his work, Proper Wild ended up terminating the CMO’s contract before he could ever get paid. They did not inform him of their decision until after he completed all of the work he did for their company and that left him with a bad taste in his mouth. “I want people to know the truth,” he explained. Despite having an appealing branding and product, the people who run Proper Wild do not hold themselves to their business contracts. In dealing with Proper Wild, be aware of their lack of professionalism and ensure you are equipped to handle yourself in your own business dealings with them. 

The CMO expected commission for the sales he was able to generate, yet received nothing. He was given 350k shares in the company, and they were all taken away. Proper Wild did not keep their promises, and he has the proof. Emails, text messages, contracts, the former CMO has evidence that he was promised and even legally contracted to specific payments. Yet, Proper Wild has not delivered their side of the agreement leaving him on the sideline. As the company looks to grow, they have formed a partnership with the popular brand Bar Stool - a company whose leadership has also recently fallen under a bad light.
