Sampson's Automotive LLC OVERCHARGE for service Exeter Rhod Island

Based on OTHER reports on Google search and my own experience, I see it is a common complaint that this service operation is all about OVER CHARGING (read as RIPOFF).

To spell out the service would be to further identify myself (which I will not do on the internet). The simple fact is this was (basically) a Non skilled type repair IE: Did not involve any vast knowledge base of the engine or any specific skills outside the AVERAGE mechanics (including backyard mechanic) skills. The BIGGEST complaint is the OVER CHARGE.

This job should have taken an AVERAGE MECHANIC (repair shop individule) 1.5 to 2 Hours in Labor time. I was charged for 4 HOURS ! Then (as expected) the cost of the materials was high BUT in the case of this shop..4X the cost I could have sourced the materials.  This was an EMERGENCY SITUATION so I was not able to (shop around) BUT NOT an Emergency where they dropped what they were doing & helped me. Still was a make an appointment type situation. So don't get the "Emergency" Part misunderstood.

I am not unaware of the time & cost of certain types of auto repair jobs. This is not a complaint because I have an axe to grind. I did not know these people before this First time visit. This is your typical "Take them for all you can get" type of shop!

On top of that the work they sis was sub standard! YES they did do the repair BUT any PROFESSIONAL MECHANIC (auto repair facility) would view the workmanship as POOR at best. IE: I (not a professional mechanic) had to spend 2 hours after the repair to remove the OLD PART of what was being repaired & REALIGN & SECURE in PROPER FASHION the new part.

That is a hint as to what LINE was replaced. That they did not remove the old also tells that the NEW could not have possibly been installed in the position the OEM was in. As such the NEW line was RUBBING on the FRAME & was CERTAIN to break again in short order!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  

This place is INCOMPETENT at best! And a RIPOFF for cost.
