Toyota of Massapequa Deceptive Practices Seaford New York

Per the email I was sent the "gentleman's" name is Colby Fiedler with whom I tried to negotiate at Toyota of Massapequa. I would not be surprised if that is not his real name after my interactions with him and what appears to be a deceptive culture as a salesman and the dealership as a whole. On CARFAX the 2019 Toyota Highlander XLE AWD was listed at $31,995 which showed up as a "Great Deal" on CARFAX and was supposedly under the average price of a similar vehicle by approximately $2,000. When given a quote, the price was $1,995 higher than what was shown on CARFAX. When I questioned this, I was told that this additional fee was mentioned in the car's description. While the description did mention requiring $1,995 down for financing, it wasn't clear that this would be added to the list price even if financing was not needed. When I questioned the deceptive description, I was told, "Everyone on Long Island advertises that way." After asking if I would agree to a purchase if they could come down $1,500, I was sent a quote which was $1,060 less than original quote and was told that was the "best" they could do. I agreed to $35,388.10 after trade-in. All was agreed on verbally and that the vehicle would be held for 3 days until I could show up to see the vehicle in person and potentially purchase it. I never agreed to finance. When I was first asked if I wanted to finance or pay cash I told the salesman it depends and I want to know what my options are. After agreeing on the price, I asked about paying with a check. I was told that the price would have to be increased again if I paid cash. After telling him we could not go any higher and after he had already agreed to hold it for 3 days he then said that someone else is about to "buy" it now. These tactics might be common for Colby Fiedler and Toyota of Massapequa but they are very deceptive, rude, immoral, unethical, and border line illegal.
