Here is a letter I sent to Complaints:

In February of 2023 I visited the West Eye complex because of a blur in my right eye and pain that is caused from strain when using my right eye on the computer. At first I saw Dr. Odrich who treated me over a period of 3 months so that my corneas would heal. Thereafter, I once again saw Dr.Dirghangi whom I had seen before the pandemic. He stated that he did not know what was causing the blur and the pain, except to state that I would go blind if I did not have cataract and glaucoma surgery. He wanted to send me to a neurologist before the first operation. I informed him that I do not have neurological problems.

He insisted so I obliged and had an incident with Dr. Vilar at UVA Northridge clinic who lied about me asking for opioid pain medication. Thereafter, I received a call stating that they did not wish to treat me. I approached patient relations who were able to resolve the problem. So, on August 31st, 2023, Dr. Dirghangi performed the first cataract and glaucoma surgery on my left eye. The results were excellent except that my left eye is amblyopic and I do not use it. Have not used it in the last 62 years.

I complained about pain and Dr. D simply dismissed my concerns and asked me to see a neurologist which I did. Naturally, the neurologist confirmed what I told Dr. D, that is, I have no neurological problems and that my pain is caused by eye strain. So, Dr. D performed the second operation on the right eye on December 14, 2023. This operation was not as successful because it did not resolve my blur or the halos I see at night or from bright lights. Typically, these are resolved with YAG laser surgery which is recommended as soon as possible after a cataract operation.

Dr. D stated that the blur was being caused by an opacity on the posterior capsule of my right eye. He stated that it was "too small to hit with a laser". I consulted ophthalmologists I knew and they claimed that his reason is nonsense and that it should be treated ASAP. So, I once again approached the UVA eye clinic who were going to schedule me to see either Dr. Olsakovsky or Dr. Ray and then I received a letter in the mail stating they were not going to treat me again. I suffer from major depression. I am currently in the midst of a bronchiectasis flare-up which is the worst I have ever experienced.

I am anxious, angry and frustrated that I am treated this way for the second time by UVA Eye Clinics. I cannot work on the computer or keep my right eye open for extended periods of time as it causes strain resulting in extreme pain. I have contacted UVA and asked them to see me next week if they want to resolve this amicably. I want to resolve this amicably, but if not, I will do whatever I can to receive treatment or justice. I am absolutely furious about the way I have been treated. The opacity on my right eye needs to be treated or else the blur will not go away. As it is, my vision is gradually going back to what it was before the cataract operation.

Kim Morton (complaints representative) called back and said she would look into the matter. I somehow doubt any of them will call back.

Just imagine being told after being treated twice that you will no longer be treated. UVA eye clinics did not solve my problem. They spitefully refused to treat me again.  They even called the police claiming that I had threatened them when in fact I had done no such thing.

Deal with them at your own risk.
