Yuma Auto & RV Center Don Hodgins & Dave Hodgins owners They stole almost $20,000 Yuma AZ

I took my RV in to be consigned at Yuma Auto & RV on 11/1/23. I had spoken to several consignors prior, and they all have different agreements. This consignment shop bills themselves as a "no commission shop". (I have this statement recorded.) They claim to make their money on RV loans, trade-ins, and RV tutorials saying it costs nothing to consign. 

I listed my RV for $86,000 which is what I had it listed for when I tried to sell it myself. I signed an agreement with them see template attached, that makes no mention of any commissions or fees.

I went to check on my RV mid November to find my front windshield cracked in half. They did not even know that it was cracked, took no responsibility for the damage which cost $2,800 to repair. 

On January 5 I got a call saying that they had an offer for $68,000. I said that was far below the list price especially given that I was going to have to pay to get the windshield repaired. They said that it was an off market this year, and given that it was a new year 2024 the value of my RV had gone down, and that was the best that I was going to do. I said no that was too low. They said they would go back to the buyer to see if they could get a higher price. They came back with the price of $70,800. As instructed I had paid off the loan by cleaning out my bank account, which they were aware of. So I was living pretty lean.

I was not happy about the offer, but was desperate, so chose to accept it based on what they told me they sold it for. Before I accepted the check, I asked them to show me proof that that's what they sold it for. They flashed me a fake purchase order to validate that $70,800 price. I asked for a copy of it. They said they couldn't provided as it had the new owners information on it, which they were legally not able to share with me. I told him they could redact that information, but they still would not share it, saying I didn't need it.  I did not know that it was a fake purchase order. 

A few weeks later, the new owners contacted me as they had found my information in the paperwork and manuals that I had left in the RV. Apparently the bedroom fan wasn't working, they called the shop to get it,  remediated and the shop told him tough luck, so he called me. During that conversation, just out of curiosity, I asked him what he bought the RV for and he told me $90,515 which is almost $20,000 more than what they told me they sold it for. My jaw almost hit the floor.

They had a signed deal with the new owners December 27 for $90,515. They did not even contact me until January 5 with the much lower sale price.  so in essence they sold my RV at the end of December, did not even tell me they had an offer until the beginning of January and had sold it for $20,000 more than they told me they sold it for. They gave me the full amount of what they told me they sold it for because they were no commission shop and that was the deal, but stole the $20,000. 

When I brought this to their attention, they offered to pay me $10,000 if I signed a gag order but then reneged on that offer so I am currently out $20,000. I also have that conversation recorded. They also signed and notarized a false bill of sale for my RV.

They will try to say that they bought my RV for the lesser amount and sold it for the higher amount but they did not have my title until January 6th when I collected the check and  passed the title off to them. so they could not buy an RV from me for a lesser value that they had already sold to someone else for a higher value that is chronologically impossible.  They will also say that I agreed to the $70,800, which I did, but that agreement was based on their lies and false documentation. I never would've agreed to that amount had they been honest with me about the actual sale price of $90,515.

These guys are total scammers and have been ripping this community off, comprised mostly of retired seniors, for decades. This needs to stop.
